Chapter 2 - A New Choice

Hana sat on a small sofa in the corner of her friend Dewi's apartment. Her gaze was empty, staring at the large glass window that revealed the bustling city at night. The sound of passing vehicles became the background to her chaotic mind. She had no idea what to do or where to go. Leaving home earlier had been a spur-of-the-moment decision, one she hadn't thought through.

"So, you really left home?" Dewi asked while placing a cup of warm tea in front of Hana.

Hana slowly nodded, still hugging her knees on the sofa. "I couldn't take it anymore, Wi. They fight every day, always blaming each other. I'm tired of being in the middle. It feels like I don't belong there anymore."

Dewi sighed deeply. "I get it. But you can't just keep running away from your problems."

"I know…" Hana lowered her head. "But I really don't know where to go now. All I have is the savings I've collected from my part-time job."

"Hmm…" Dewi looked at Hana thoughtfully before finally sitting beside her. "If that's the case, why don't you move to Bali?"

Hana quickly turned to her, raising an eyebrow. "Bali?"

"Yes, Bali. I went there a few months ago, and it's completely different from Jakarta. It's peaceful, and the people are friendly. Maybe you can find the peace you're looking for there," Dewi said enthusiastically.

"I don't know anyone there, Wi. I wouldn't even know what to do if I lived there," Hana replied hesitantly.

"Well, we can figure it out slowly. If you want, I can go with you until you find a place that suits you." Dewi smiled reassuringly. "Besides, you've always said you wanted to live somewhere quiet. Maybe this is your chance."

Hana fell silent, her mind wandering far. The idea sounded tempting but also terrifying. Moving to Bali meant leaving everything behind in Jakarta her family, job, and familiar routines.

"I don't know, Wi. I need to think about it first," Hana said softly.

"Okay, no rush. Let's wait until tomorrow morning so you can sleep on it," Dewi responded while patting Hana's shoulder. "For now, just calm down and don't think about anything heavy."

They sat in silence for a moment, with only the sound of the television playing in the background. Dewi then got up and headed to the kitchen, while Hana remained lost in her thoughts.

After a few minutes, Dewi returned with a bowl of instant noodles. "Here, eat something so you won't go hungry."

Hana gave a faint smile and accepted the bowl. "Thanks, Wi. You're really kind."

"Oh, come on. That's what friends are for. Besides, I don't like seeing you looking so down," Dewi said, trying to lighten the mood. "By the way, if we really do move to Bali, what would you do there? Look for a new job?"

"Probably, yeah. I'd need to find a job first if I move there. I can't just rely on my savings. But I don't know what kind of job I could get there."

"Don't worry about that, Han. There are plenty of jobs in Bali. I know a few people who can help. And you're smart, so it'll be easy for you to find something," Dewi said confidently.

Hana chuckled softly. "Yeah, hopefully. But I still need to think carefully. I don't want to regret it later."

"That's fair. Moving to a new place isn't easy. But I believe, if you really want it, you can do it. Sometimes, we just need the courage to take that first step," Dewi encouraged her.

The night grew later, but their conversation continued. Hana felt slightly more at ease. At least she had someone who cared about her and was willing to help her find a way out.

After a while, Dewi let out a big yawn. "It's getting really late. Let's get some sleep. We can think about this again tomorrow."

Hana nodded. "Okay. Thanks for everything, Wi."

"Don't mention it. Come on, let's get some rest. Tomorrow, we'll figure out a solution."

Hana went into the guest room that Dewi had prepared for her. She lay down on the bed, but her mind was still restless. Was moving to Bali really the best solution? She didn't know. What she did know was that she was too exhausted with her life in Jakarta. Maybe a big change was exactly what she needed.

Hana stared at the ceiling with a mind full of chaos. She was still uncertain, but one thing was clear she couldn't go back home. Amid her scattered thoughts, the image of Bali slowly started to appear in her mind.

"If I go, will everything change? Or will it only get worse?" Hana whispered to herself.

Morning was still far away, but deep down, she knew the decision she would make tomorrow morning might change her life forever.
