Chapter 1 - Dragon

The morning mist enveloped the entire mountain village, and sunlight filtered through the thin fog, casting a golden veil over the fields. Nestled at the foot of the mountains, the village was surrounded by undulating hills. The villagers led a simple life, working at sunrise and resting at sunset. Among them was an elderly man named Grandpa Li, who, in his seventies, had a head full of silver hair and a kind demeanor. He was the most respected elder in the village, and everyone affectionately called him "Grandpa Li."

When Grandpa Li was young, villagers often talked about the legends of the mountain — tales of dragons. It was said that a mysterious dragon resided in the mountain's lake, and its appearance was always accompanied by storms and thunder. However, these legends were merely topics for idle chatter, and no one had ever truly seen a dragon.

But Grandpa Li, as a young boy, had indeed witnessed a dragon.

It was a hot summer night, and the village's weather was stiflingly humid, with dark clouds looming overhead as if a downpour was imminent. At the age of ten, Grandpa Li, then just a mischievous boy, sneaked out with some friends to play by the river outside the village. Suddenly, a flash of lightning lit up the sky, followed by a deafening clap of thunder. The other children scattered in fear, but Grandpa Li stood frozen in place.

Before him, a massive shadow appeared on the river's surface. A dragon emerged from the water, its scales glistening under the lightning's glow. Its eyes burned like fiery orbs, radiating a sense of awe and fear. Petrified, Grandpa Li could only watch as the dragon noticed him, its gaze lingering briefly before it ascended into the clouds and disappeared.

Terrified, Grandpa Li ran home and recounted his encounter to his family. However, they merely chuckled, dismissing it as a child's wild imagination. After all, who would believe such a fantastical story from a child?

From that night on, Grandpa Li began to change. He developed an uncanny ability to foresee certain events, like when it would rain or which crops would fail. These peculiar talents made the villagers both respect and fear him. But Grandpa Li never believed these abilities were his own; he thought they were the result of the dragon's presence within him.

As he grew older, Grandpa Li learned to control these abilities and used them to help the villagers. The village's harvests thrived thanks to his predictions, and the villagers' respect for him grew even more profound.

Though he never saw the dragon again, Grandpa Li always believed it hadn't left but was watching over him and the village. Often, he would sit beneath the large tree at the village's entrance, gazing at the distant mountains, as if waiting for something.

One day, a mysterious Taoist priest arrived in the village. Dressed in a green robe and holding a whisk, his eyes held a deep, enigmatic gaze. After hearing about Grandpa Li's abilities, he approached him and said, "You carry the dragon's aura. If you find the dragon's true form, you may unlock the secret within you."

Grandpa Li was startled. The dragon's true form? Could it still be out there, hidden and waiting?

Determined, Grandpa Li decided to embark on a journey to find the dragon. He bid farewell to his family and the villagers, packed his belongings, and set out into the mountains. He didn't know what lay ahead but knew this was a mission he had to fulfill.

The mountain paths were rugged and treacherous, but Grandpa Li pressed on without fear. Guided by his childhood memories, he retraced his steps to the place where he had first seen the dragon. As night fell, he arrived at the riverbank, where the water still flowed quietly as if awaiting something.

Grandpa Li sat cross-legged by the river, closing his eyes to feel the surrounding energy. Suddenly, he sensed a powerful force rising from the riverbed. The familiar dragon reappeared before him, its gaze both profound and kind, conveying a silent message.

The dragon's voice echoed in his mind, "Descendant of the Li family, thank you for your years of guardianship. Now, I bestow my full power upon you. You will become the guardian of this land."

A warm surge of energy flowed into Grandpa Li, and he understood that this was a legacy, a mission. From that moment, he was no longer just a villager but the protector of the village.

At dawn, Grandpa Li returned to the village, where the villagers were astonished to see a newfound aura of solemnity and divinity about him. From then on, they revered him as the "Dragon's Messenger," and he continued to use his powers to aid the villagers, bringing prosperity to the entire village.

The legend of the dragon became an enduring myth in the village, passed down through generations. And Grandpa Li's story turned into a favorite tale among the villagers. Whether or not the encounter was real, the villagers believed that as long as Grandpa Li was aro
