Chapter 4 - No Fear

This is absurd. 'Why am I fighting this thing now?' Axel thought to himself.

This irrational action of his confused himself. But his instincts warned him that running away might be much more dangerous.

No....he himself knew the answer. Fighting a big creature is better than ending up somewhere much more dangerous in this unknown forest.

The minotaur's mere presence was suffocating. It was some kind of Aura, that Axel couldn't explain. It felt like this aura enveloped this whole forest.

Somewhere in his mind he knew that even if he escapes, this aura will definitely kill him slowly.

But he realised one thing. Nothing in this forest will ever dare to enter the region of this creature. In a sense, being near this creature is a safe spot.

While contemplating all this, Axel dodged all its swings. The double sided axe was larger than him.

Amidst this dodging session, Axel realised many things. This Minotaur had a keen sense of smell and sight.

It followed his movement perfectly, at the same time when he tried to go for its blind spots and switch over, he noticed that the Minotaur's nose twitched and the next second his position was compromised.

Another thing to notice, this creature's skin was as thick as a concrete wall. Axel swiftly delivered some measuring punches to precisely gauge the creature's composition.

Surprisingly it has a muscle structure similar to humans. Calf muscles were exactly human-like.

The analysis was almost complete. He only needs to get on top of it to find any potential weakness. This creature was over powered in his book. It was almost as if it didn't have any weakness except its size.

After getting into its blind spot, I ran towards a tree that was almost thrice as big as this Minotaur. Using the branches I rapidly climbed up.

As soon as I reached a higher position, the Minotaur spotted me. It is adapting at an alarming rate. It is spotting me much faster.

This time, it didn't rush at me, instead it stood there and picked up its axe in both hands. It lifted it above its head and arched its back.

Is it going to throw the axe? That's a new move. Its muscles are tightened and in an instant, I saw a blade near my face.

I instinctively dodged it. In fact I didn't have time to consciously dodge it. The axe cleaved through the air, decimating all the branches behind me. Finally getting stuck on a much thicker tree.

I turned around only to see the Minotaur charging at this tree.

*Boom*

The minotaur's shoulder hitting the tree made a huge noise, the tree shook before a creak sound is heard. I think the tree is going to fall.

*Creak*

As our boy guessed, the tree indeed started to fall. Axel's eyes shifted towards the axe that was stuck on the neighbouring tree. He calculated the rate of fall, the distance between him and the axe.

He waited for the tree to reach a certain inclination, but the raging minotaur didn't wait. He backed up to rush at the tree once again.

He won't make it in time. It's a life or death scenario. Luckily for him, the forest was dense. He could jump to a different tree and escape the Minotaur. That was his other plan.

Escape into the unknown? Or an insane stunt which requires the pinnacle of precision? Even then victory is not guaranteed.

For some reason, he felt like this was the most difficult choice he ever came across. The thought of depending on luck to survive annoyed him a little.

The next moment he jolted; on top of a slowly falling tree. As soon as he heard the sound of the minotaur hitting the tree, he leaped.

Arms up in the air, legs frantic because of the split second vibration.

It felt like time froze. The Minotaur at the bottom, a falling tree, a boy in the air with a poker face, jumping towards a two-sided axe stuck on a much larger tree.

The scenery was breath-taking, so beautiful that a certain blonde haired woman was drawing a portrait out of it.

I did all the calculations. The chances of failure were quite high. Yet I chose this option.

Nonetheless, I can run away anytime, but it should be a last resort.

I don't think this thing has a stamina limit. Even if it did, it would definitely be higher than mine.

Time seemed to slow down. My heart was beating a little bit faster than usual. This was rare as there were too little things that made me use adrenaline rush back in my world.

I reached out my hand in the air, hoping to catch the handle of the axe.

Axel caught the handle with a single hand. It was close, in fact too close that even a fraction of second of delay could've potentially ended his life.

Hearing the creaking noise from the axe, Axel realised that this axe could not support his weight for much longer. He looked to see the Minotaur preparing to charge at this tree.

This Minotaur was abnormally angry. Nonetheless without further delay, Axel lifted himself above the axe handle.

He still had the opportunity to run away. After all, he still has to venture into the forest even if he defeated this monster.

But this location favours him. There's a small chance that the party which ran away, could bring more people to kill this Minotaur.

From their conversation earlier, it seems like this beast shouldn't be here in the first place.

Axel's mind went into overdrive. Rapid calculations ran through his head. He estimated the weight of the axe to be around 200 kilograms, while the minotaur weighed somewhere between 800 kilograms and a ton.

The minotaur was only a couple of steps away from striking the tree. Axel was positioned about 20 meters above it.

"*Sigh* I guess I'll find out whether this beast is edible or not," he muttered.

With that, he jumped onto the axe again to loosen it further. Finally, putting all his weight into it, he tipped the axe until it was on the verge of coming loose. Using his foot for propulsion, he launched himself toward the charging beast.

He nudged the axe in such a way that it began to fall in a rotating motion. As it spun faster and faster, it created a blur of red from his uniform and silver from the axe, resembling a yin and yang symbol.

In a realistic scenario, the actions described would be very difficult to execute with precision, especially given the constraints of mass and force.

The torque needed, the angle, the position.

Everything needs to be precise.

Luckily for him, Axel is a master of

precision. Him, along with the axe; accelerated rapidly.

*Splash*

Blood oozed out like a fountain.
