Chapter 5
Dating App Chat: Byun Woo Seok & Ryu Ga-in
Woo Seok:
Hi. I didn't expect to match with someone so beautiful.
Ga-in:
Flattery won't get you far, mister.
Woo Seok:
Not flattery, just honesty. You're studying art, right?
Ga-in:
How do you know that?
Woo Seok:
Your bio. "Aspiring artist trying to survive." Sounds like someone with a lot of passion.
Ga-in:
Hah, passion doesn't pay rent.
Woo Seok:
Fair point. But it keeps you going, doesn't it?
Ga-in:
Sometimes. Most of the time, it's just exhausting.
Woo Seok:
I can imagine. Life has a way of making things harder than they need to be.
Ga-in:
You sound like someone who knows a lot about that.
Woo Seok:
Maybe. But I'd rather hear about you. What kind of art do you focus on?
Ga-in:
Sketching and painting. Though right now, I'm stuck retaking this stupid drawing class because the professor doesn't like my "perspective."
Woo Seok:
Sounds frustrating. But it also sounds like you have talent they don't appreciate yet.
Ga-in:
Aren't you sweet? Let me guess, you're one of those guys who pretends to be all humble and then drops a flex about your yacht or something.
Woo Seok:
No yachts, I promise. I live a pretty simple life.
Ga-in:
Sure, Mr. Dark Suit and Dangerous Smile.
Woo Seok:
Dangerous? I'll take that as a compliment.
Ga-in:
It wasn't.
Woo Seok:
Fair enough. But if you're free this weekend, maybe I can change your mind.
Ga-in:
Oh? How exactly?
Woo Seok:
Coffee. There's a small café not far from you—Le Papillon. Heard it's good.
Ga-in:
You're not offering dinner at a fancy restaurant?
Woo Seok:
I prefer to start simple. Besides, I'd like to actually talk to you.
Ga-in:
Hmm. You're a bit different.
Woo Seok:
Is that a yes?
Ga-in:
Fine. Saturday, 3 PM. Don't be late.
Woo Seok:
I wouldn't dare. See you then, Ga-in.
Ga-in:
See you.
---
Ga-in locked her phone and leaned back, a smug grin spreading across her face. This Byun Woo Seok might not flaunt his wealth like others, but the tailored suit and polished demeanor screamed money. That's all she needed to know.
"Le Papillon, huh?" she murmured to herself. "Better be worth it."
For Ga-in, this wasn't about romance. It was about survival. Whatever danger Woo Seok's smile held, she'd figure it out later.
