Chapter 20 - Echoes of Screams

The night was heavy, the air laden with an eerie silence. The forest surrounding the cult's camp was alive with unseen movements. Rio's seven companions, bound by absolute loyalty, were preparing for their most challenging mission yet.

Rio watched his comrades as they inspected their weapons and exchanged serious glances. Standing at the forefront, his calm demeanor and commanding presence set the tone. Turning to his imposing Arab general, Suleiman, Rio said:

"Sigur is no ordinary opponent. Don't underestimate him. We are here to end this nightmare and save those under his grasp."

Suleiman smiled confidently, raising his golden spear adorned with intricate Arabic engravings.

"If it were easy, you wouldn't have called me, would you?"

As they approached the camp, they encountered a group of cult guards. These weren't ordinary enemies—they were the cult's elite, trained to kill without mercy.

• Lian, the composed archer, unleashed precise arrows aimed at the guards' eyes, causing them to scream in pain.

• Kyle, the heavy warrior, used his massive shield to push back enemies and strike with devastating force.

• Suleiman fought like a lion on the battlefield, his movements both fluid and deadly. Each strike of his spear carried the weight of precision and experience, his inspiring chants igniting the hearts of his allies.

Rio moved like a shadow among the enemies. His energy radiated with every step, his focused eyes observing the battlefield intently. When a guard attempted to attack him from behind, Rio spun swiftly, cutting him down with a seamless motion of his blade.

After subduing the front-line guards, Sigur finally emerged from his main tent, his heavy steps echoing in the silence. A tall man with a body covered in dark tattoos that emitted an ominous aura, his cold eyes scanned the area with indifference.

"So, you're the rats who sneaked into my camp?" he said in a deep, resonant voice.

Rio stepped forward, his gaze fixed on his opponent.

"Your games are over, Sigur. We're here to end your vile trade in human lives."

Sigur chuckled lightly and motioned with his hand. More of his followers emerged from the shadows, each radiating a dark, sinister energy.

"Come then. Show me what you're capable of, you so-called heroes."

The battle erupted with unmatched intensity. Despite his calm demeanor, Sigur was a formidable warrior. His combat prowess was more than physical—it was imbued with a dark power emanating from his tattoos.

Rio and Suleiman led the assault against Sigur directly, while the rest of the team handled his followers.

• Rio displayed remarkable growth in harnessing his energy. Every strike of his sword carried destructive force, and his swift movements made him appear as though he was manipulating the battlefield itself.

• Suleiman confronted Sigur fiercely, using his spear to breach the cult leader's defenses.

Sigur, however, countered their attacks with frightening precision. At one point, he landed a powerful blow on Rio, striking his left shoulder and forcing him to retreat momentarily. Blood flowed from the wound, but Rio stood his ground.

"You won't defeat me so easily!" Rio shouted, channeling his energy to accelerate his movements and surprise Sigur with a devastating strike to his chest.

Suddenly, Sigur released a dark energy from his tattoos, forcing everyone to fall back.

"You've been toying with me, but you don't understand the true power of the cult!"

The ground trembled beneath their feet as ghostly visions of tortured souls appeared before their eyes. Their screams echoed in the companions' minds, threatening to break their resolve.

Rio, despite his wound, concentrated his energy and closed his eyes briefly, relying on a fragment of the Flow Technique he had recently begun to master.

"You won't control me with your tricks!"

After a grueling battle that stretched on for hours, Rio and Suleiman executed a coordinated attack. Rio used his speed to deliver a critical blow, while Suleiman's spear pierced through Sigur's defenses.

As Sigur fell, he glared at Rio with fiery anger.

"This isn't over… What you've done today will haunt you forever."

Rio, though weary and wounded, replied calmly:

"Perhaps. But I won't let someone like you remain alive."
