MATTEO'S POV~
"Her."
Hazel eyes, something I couldn't forget or more importantly someone.
I replay every moment, the time I spent with her that day. I recall her every feature from her red hair to those bold Hazel eyes that held so much intensity. I recalled her perfectly rounded lips that drew my attention anytime she moved them. Her curves, the art and beauty of her seized my entire being.
I, Matteo Castello; the king of the underground, fell for a woman once too. She didn't even try, her presence alone was a drug I got quickly addicted to. I still remembered how we clicked like old pals. The only other person I had that connection with was Mikhail. I grew instantly soft for her, laying down my walls. Hopes of a future with her flashed through my mind even before I heard her speak and Lord, her voice. It was a Melody stuck in my brain, one I could replay day in day out without getting bored of it.
Within hours, those moments of bliss disappeared before my eyes. I once again relied on a woman, trusted someone I wasn't meant to. It was like any step I took towards happiness came biting back at me. That day I decided never to let my guard down like that. She was a virus I needed to eliminate and I was going to enjoy giving her a tip of the pain she caused me.
I watched as the car pulled to an entrance behind the airport. I could see in the distance other planes that were either leaving, getting ready to leave or just coming back. Mikhail was sitting beside the whole ride eating very noisily some snacks. The car stopped and Leonardo opened the door for us. I got out fixing my suit before stepping towards my jet packed in the corner. It had a black exterior and a big white company logo on its door. I looked over to see Mikhail speaking to a few men at the other side of the terminal.
Approaching them slowly, they paused looking at me bowing in respect. Nodding I turned to Mikhail.
"Are the Captain and flight attendants ready to go?" He nodded in response before turning back to the men giving out instructions in italian.
The door of the jet came down and I stepped in with Mikhail following closely behind me. The interior of the plane was just at the exterior. Dark hardwood covered the walls and seats with bits of white scattered around to compliment the dark color. I had like two other planes with similar designs whereas the others belong to my dad.
"Flight attendants, prepare for take off. All passengers proceed to take your seats..." I blocked out the voice of the Captain concentrating on my phone. Mikhail was somewhere on the jet either flirting with an attendant or stuffing himself with food. He was such a hypocrite.
I couldn't wait to be back in, New York. Deals and meetings awaited me back there but what I was prepared for was meeting her.
"Do you have to always carry yourself around with a scowl on your face?" Asked Mikhail as he stepped back into this part of the plane with a plate in his hands. I wasn't surprised by that.
"What do you want?" I didn't have to look up at him to know my statement annoyed him.
"By the way, have you heard from the Russians?" I turned towards him. A serious expression came on his face as we spent the next minutes discussing deals making calls and sending out emails.
"I got a call from our guys in the streets, saying someone has been stealing our packages," Mikhail said out of nowhere typing on a laptop.
"And why am I just hearing this now?" My focus was now on him. I couldn't believe he didn't inform me about something like this.
"In my defense, I told you but you were too busy chasing after that red hair," he replied, smirking at me. I didn't even reply knowing he was speaking the truth. I have spent the last five months tracking and chasing after Hazel. It didn't matter what I did, my goal was to get it and now I had her.
"You haven't told me what happened that day," he raised an eyebrow in question.
I didn't tell him or any of my men for that matter why I was looking for Hazel Woods or her crimes against me. I didn't want to seem pathetic to them, I mean she played me and I let her even when I had my suspicions I choose to ignore them. "It's none of your business," I replied avoiding his eyes.
"For now," he added smiling sheepishly. "I'm definitely going to find out what she did to get under your skin so much, besides, I can't wait to see the little red hair," grumbling, I resumed what I was doing, choosing to ignore him the whole ride.
As soon as we touched down, I got into a car waiting for us at the airport and drove to the house. I didn't stop to answer anyone's greeting heading towards the room she was kept in.
"Sir," Jamie greeted me in the corridor before directly leading me to the room. Just then my phone rang and I answered to see dad calling. I signaled Jamie to wait for me as I stepped to the corner to answer my phone. After some minutes I hung up and continued toward the room.
I stepped into a scene I wasn't expecting. Hazel layed down on the bed, her face bleeding. My gaze turned red as I observed the damaged features of her face. I tried to stay calm before turning to the other people in the room.
"What happened here?" Barely able to contain my anger.
"S-sir she was being stubborn and I had no c-choice but to keep her in check," stuttered the foolish Ermanno who I already had plans for. This was his last straw but I wasn't going to deal with it yet.
Nodding my head I gestured for them to leave the room.
Jamie was the first to run out, obviously sensing the tension in the room. The room remained silent as I watched her, she could barely see me because her eye was badly bruised. I felt a certain pain hit me as she struggled to sit up on the bed. Who was I kidding? I wasn't prepared to see her. Not now, not ever.
The familiar felt that day in her presence returned but with anger attached to it.
"Dolcezza," I called into the silent room. Her face snapped to me, a look of recognition reached her eyes before she passed out on the bed.
