Nick watched with anticipation as the last of the system's notifications blared, signaling the Remembered to rise again. Soon, they would fall and be forgotten.

The battlefield trembled as the ground itself became water. Within seconds, a pond formed in the middle of the battlefield, endless in depth.

Its water was a murky black that absorbed all the light, reflecting none. Not even a ripple formed on its completely even surface–all the terrors within were perfectly hidden.

'The fish can wait.' Nick thought, more focused on the air cracking from such an influx in energy. 103 monsters in total were summoned by the Apostle, cracking reality wide open.

And at least 6 of those enemies, the Nephilim Fallen, were on a whole other level of power. If he killed all the other monsters first, that would grant him 9,700 experience: enough for a few level-ups.

That would be the best strategy. Maybe he could beat them with his current strength, but there was no need to test it. With his [Emperor's Slash]and [Evisceration], it should be easy to cut through their ranks quickly.

Though maybe that wasn't the best strategy either–he should try saving some energy.

The Vakir were the first to make their presence known. Even in a desolate landscape of the dead, their domination over nature reigned supreme.

Multiple trees rose from the spot where they appeared. At the same time, Nick could hear the growls of multiple indomitable beasts.

They made themselves the clear first target.

Before the air could crack again, Nick jumped across the battlefield. The unbridled aggression of an Orc was needed here. If he allowed all the races to be summoned at once he might be in a little trouble.

'Nah, I'd win.'

[Emperor's Slash]

Trees cracked apart at the trunk, some of them even uprooted completely. A few of the shamans squealed as they were smashed by the nature they thought they controlled.

Blood and organs flew out from the pressure of a body being crushed by a tree. The sound of cracking bone filled the air as their little goat legs stuck out at every possible angle.

[5 ability points granted]

Now that Nick drew the first blood he was eager to spill more. First, he had to increase his strength a little more though.

The Vakir Beastmasters weren't looking to be cannon fodder like everything else. They were the foremost conquerors of nature, the epitome of domination.

They held a sense of authority far superior to that of an Elf or Orc. Ever since the day the shunned left the elves to become the first Vakir, their dominion had never been challenged.

Until now, every potential usurper was quickly crushed just by their trees, a byproduct of a Vakir's existence. Just because this *human* passed this simple test did not mean he would dominate them.

Enraged, the Vaki shrieked as they surrounded themselves with trees, far too prideful to let the other races interfere. Then they smiled. 20 Leapers and 6 Beastmasters would be far too much for any human, even if he was a supposed king.

As the Leapers bounded through the forest in a blur surpassing speed, the Vakir summoned their greatest beasts. In most fights, they would play with their victim and only summon their weakest beasts. This *human's* slight, thinking he could best them, enraged the Vaki past the point of playing with their food.

They were simply going to devour him.

The Leapers cackled as they neared Nick. Food! Food!

Due to his farseeing eyes, he could clearly hear each of their thoughts and their eagerness to eat them. 'They must be the weapons of the Vakir then.' Nick thought before grinning.

'If you're so hungry, why don't you eat steel?'

[Emperor's Sla-]

A force Nick couldn't even see knocked into him. It was too weak to even knock him back, but it was still enough to cancel his strike. 19 other such forces quickly followed, and this was enough to cause Nick to lose his footing.

[Leaper's speed – A Leaper is unnaturally fast, capable of increasing their speed by 1,000% for a minute]

'They are fast... so fast they outsped my farseeing eyes!' Nick thought, knowing that a creature that could hit him before his system even notified him of their skill was not one to take lightly.

This intuition was proven instantly. Before Nick could land or gather his bearings he was sent flying through the air.

[3 HP lost. HP: 92/95]

'Huh, my HP must've increased as well when I leveled up.' Nick landed with grace as he readied his sword in defense.

According to the skill description, the Leapers only had a minute left to live. Once their cute speed boost was used up, they would just be animals waiting for slaughter.

Nice, easy 2,000 experience points.

Though, it would be best to adapt to their attacks more. In 5 seconds he took 3 damage to his health. If they got an entire minute to attack him, he'd lose 60 health.

Not the best strategy for winning a battle.

Calming his breath, Nick lowered his focus to the 20 Leapers, turning his [Farseeing Eyes] into something like a telescope.

He followed the pattering hooves leaping off the ground. Small, quick steps indecipherable by even those with the most acute senses. If the Vakir weren't so prideful and didn't think of their lower classes as nothing more than a weapon, Nick knew he wouldn't have been able to follow them.

He held a sort of respect for these canon fodder as his disdain for the beastmasters grew. Anyone fighting alongside someone should be viewed as a comrade and fellow soldier, not a disposable tool.

Once he conquered the species built for domination, he was going to change this arrangement.

For now, they were an enemy though. And like any enemy, they only existed to give him experience, a chance to level up.

Almost as if to disprove that notion, the Leapers struck with a single unified force. Even with his heightened focus, Nick could barely block their strikes.

Kicks and punches were launched at him from every direction. The number was far too great for anyone to effectively dodge or block, even an Emperor. Still, even when his guard broke and he ate a faceful of hooves, Nick continued fighting.

Some stupid Leapers weren't going to be the ones to take him down.

Hooves and fists flew through the air, a tornado of strikes meant to break down Nick's defense. Again his guard broke, and he took even more damage than the last time as a fist connected directly with his stomach.

[20 HP lost. 72/95]

Nick gritted his teeth as his stomach flared with pain. He had little time to think about how his original strategy had failed, how he knew that trying to defend himself for a whole minute from attacks he couldn't see or block was a bad idea.

The Leapers didn't want him to think. They wanted him to hurt or even die.

Nick wasn't looking to comply.

He closed his eyes and forced the world around him to a standstill. His [Farseeing Eyes] became even more focused, like he was zoning on each and every atom of the Leapers.

With this level of focus, even the rhythmic and rapid movement of their feet became nothing more than the slow crawl of a turtle.

Even nature obeyed the Emperor's will to come to a stop. Not a single drop of dew on a leaf moved as Nick focused all of his attention on the Leapers' locations.

5 in front of him, 5 behind him. 3 to the left and 3 to the right. The final 4 were above him in an attempt to attack from the sky.

They were the first to enter his vicinity as the world returned to its regular speed the second his sword swung.
