Chapter 6 - Into new dimensions

The tree crashed on him and a cloud of dust filled the air. The ogres growled and ran towards him.

Asher was still dazed from the crash, he was nestled between branches and leaves. The stomping of the ogre's feet on the ground shook him awake.

He slid through the branches and made it out of the broken tree. He looked back and saw the ogre so close to him.

What do you want from me? He screamed at it. Asher couldn't move as fast as he did because of his injured arm.

He moved out of the way as the ogre pounced on him. He ran away quickly but the ogre kept chasing.

The ogre threw boulders, and dead branches at him, Asher could barely keep up, he was showing signs of fatigue and the ogre was catching up.

He's closing in on me.. It's a good thing I'm almost there

The ogre growled at him, it tried to stump him with its large feet but Asher got out of the way at the last minute the impact of the smash tossed him in the air.

Asher quickly grabs onto the grass, pulling himself back to the ground. Immediate he was completely covered in the shadow of the ogres foot barreling down at him.

Not today, smelly.

Asher slid to the side, the ogre roared. Asher looked straight ahead, he could see the end of the forest.

He could see the sun shining heavily. It scared him but he had no choice with the ogre catching up to him.

He darts straight into the sunlight and out of the forest. He was back at the marsh lands, just in front of the marsh river bank.

He looked around and couldn't see the fox

Steven! Where are you?

Steven! ?

He screamed for the fox but got no answer then the ogre jumped out of the forest after him. His body had already started to burn.

He sped towards the dead tree and the ogre chased after him. He jumped on it and slid through barks.

As ran across the dead tree, the ogre leaped up and cashed on it, smashing it to pieces, mud splashed everywhere.

Its weight had submerged most of the dead tree in the mud, and its legs were in the mud as well.

Asher clinged the other end of the tree, he narrowly escaped, falling into the mud as the ogre crashed in.

It's just a stupid beast. You've killed yourself.

That was my plan all along.

To bring you here, to trap you and when you couldn't move I'll take your energy and I'll use it to save Steven.

But…

Tears filled his eyes

I can't find him anywhere.

Where are you Steven,

He looked across the mud pool but couldn't see any sign of Steven. The ogre roared at him rocking the tree asher clinged on

Don't tell me, it can still move.

The ogre pushed its weight around against the thick sloppy mud. Asher begins to panic as the ogre comes for him. He had hidden himself underneath one of the branches.

He looked around, panicking then he saw the ogres shadow, a little bit if it was cast against the dead wood.

They had enough distance between them perhaps he could siphon out his energy before he got to him. It could work but the only problem would be escaping the sun.

I've got to do this

Asher braced himself and darted out of the shade, his flat two dimensional figure, gliding on the trunk like the shadow of a bird flying overhead. He gets to the ogres shadow and puts his hand in.

He felt a rush of energy filling his whole body like nothing he'd ever felt before. The ogre growled, it became even more ferocious, thrashing wildly against the mud, moving his shadow out of Asher reach.

It's moved closer and closer to him, casting its shadow again once more on Asher but every time he'd siphon a little he thrash around and break Asher hold on him.

The sunlight got to him and he ran away into the shade. He felt the ogre grip onto the tree and he ran out to its shadow and stole his energy the beast swung it's hand it's him, but asher quickly darted back to safety with an intense speed.

Thanks to the ogres energy Asher had been able to he'll himself and increase his speed. The ogre tries to lift up the trunk to get to him.

I can't fight him head on not with the sun out like this, I can't run away either, what do I do?

The ogre pounded its fist of the on the dead tree trunk knocking Asher around but held on tightly to the branches.

I'm sick and tired of this!

He quickly ran at the ogre, the ogres seeing him coming his way, he slapped his fist against the tree trunk to crush him but Asher was fast enough to be out of harm's way before his hand hit the wood pushing it further down into the mud.

Asher jumped at the ogre's face and with his tiny hands he punched it. It's did not

I thought they'll work! Damn it not enough energy

As he fell down in mid air the ogre slapped him away

No!

He sends Asher flying away, he crashes on the far left side from the ogre, on top of the mud pool.

Damn!

Asher quickly ran across the mud pool, it slows him down to a crawl, the sickness of the mud finally stops his new found speed.

But lucky enough he stops under the ogres shadow. He begins siphoning the ogre's energy, the ogre roars and thrashes wildly trying to turn around and get him.

Asher seizes the opportunity to siphon as much as he can, the ogre fought and struggled against him and the mud pool, but soon began to look tired and exhausted.

The ogre's large shadow kept Asher safe away from the sunlight. Soon Asher felt filled with such immense power.

Out of his flat form too large shadow legs came out of him and his figure began to change, he transformed into a humanoid shadow with legs and hands and three dimensions.

He was lying on his back on the mud but the ogre. He felt his arms and legs and memories flushed into his mind, he got glimpses of who he was.

Lying on his back the struggling ogre by his side he look up at it. He felt light, he slowly got on his feet his legs were shaky and the muddy terrain was the best place to try out his new legs,

He waved goodbye to the ogre and walked out of his shadow as the mud pool continued to swallow it whole.

The sunshine barreled down on him making him docile, he struggled to make it's towards the bank of the river, the sickness slowed him down and every now and then he'd turn to check back on the ogre.
