Chereads / An Alphas Mysterious Luna / Chapter 21 - The Full Moon Ceremony

Chapter 21 - The Full Moon Ceremony

The night of the full moon arrived with a sense of anticipation. The village buzzed with activity as the pack prepared for one of their most sacred rituals. Wolves darted between cabins, carrying lanterns, bundles of herbs, and ceremonial offerings to the central clearing. The air was thick with the earthy scent of pine and the faint tang of sage smoke curling into the sky.

Kate stood in front of the mirror in the packhouse, adjusting the flowing silver gown Elder Rowan had given her. It shimmered like moonlight, hugging her figure before cascading into soft folds at her feet. A delicate circlet of silver rested in her hair, a gift from Brison.

"You look perfect," Brison said, stepping into the room.

Kate turned to him, her breath catching at the sight of him in his ceremonial attire—a dark tunic embroidered with intricate patterns that symbolized the strength and unity of the pack.

"Do you really think I'm ready for this?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Brison stepped closer, taking her hands in his. "You were born for this, Kate. The bond we share, the strength you've already shown—it's all led to this moment. Trust in yourself."

Kate nodded, drawing strength from his words.

The clearing was bathed in the silver light of the full moon when they arrived. The pack had gathered in a wide circle, their faces glowing with reverence and expectation. At the center of the circle stood a stone altar adorned with flowers, candles, and bowls of herbs.

Elder Rowan raised his hands, his voice commanding as he began the ceremony.

"Tonight, under the light of the full moon, we gather to welcome our Luna, to honor the bond that strengthens us, and to seek the blessings of our ancestors."

He turned to Kate, his gaze steady. "Step forward, child."

Kate took a deep breath and stepped into the center of the circle, Brison by her side. Her heart pounded as every eye focused on her, but she squared her shoulders and lifted her chin.

"Kate, do you vow to lead with wisdom and compassion, to protect this pack as your family, and to stand by your Alpha through every challenge?" Rowan asked.

"I do," Kate said, her voice clear and unwavering.

Rowan turned to Brison. "And you, Alpha, do you vow to guide your Luna with strength and love, to honor the bond you share, and to protect this pack as one?"

"I do," Brison replied, his voice firm.

Rowan nodded, satisfied. He picked up a silver bowl filled with a shimmering liquid and held it high. "This is the essence of the moon, a symbol of the bond that unites us all. With it, we bless our Luna and welcome her into our hearts."

He dipped his fingers into the liquid and traced a crescent moon on Kate's forehead. The cool touch sent a shiver down her spine, but it was quickly replaced by a warm, calming energy that spread through her body.

"The bond is sealed," Rowan announced, his voice echoing through the clearing. "Let us welcome our Luna!"

The pack erupted into howls, their voices rising in harmony with the moon above. Kate felt tears sting her eyes as she looked around, the love and acceptance of the pack washing over her.

After the ceremony, the atmosphere shifted to celebration. Wolves danced around the fire, their laughter ringing through the night. Plates of food were passed around, and the air filled with the scent of roasted meat and spiced wine.

Kate sat with Brison near the fire, her hand in his. She felt lighter than she had in weeks, the weight of the pack's doubts lifted by the warmth of their acceptance.

"You did it," Brison said, his voice filled with pride.

"We did it," Kate corrected, leaning her head against his shoulder.

As the night wore on, the music slowed, and couples drifted into the forest to bask in the moonlight. Brison stood, holding out his hand to Kate.

"Come with me," he said.

Kate took his hand, letting him lead her to a quiet spot by a crystal-clear stream. The moonlight reflected off the water, casting a soft glow around them.

"This place is special," Brison said, his voice low. "It's where I used to come when I needed clarity. I wanted to share it with you."

Kate smiled, touched by the gesture. "It's beautiful."

Brison turned to her, his eyes filled with love. "You're beautiful," he murmured.

Kate's breath hitched as he cupped her face, his touch gentle but sure. When their lips met, it was a kiss full of promise—a reminder of the bond they shared and the future they were building together.

As they stood there under the light of the full moon, Kate felt a deep sense of belonging. She wasn't just part of the pack—she was their Luna, and she was ready to face whatever came next.
