Chapter 17 - The Contract That Could Change Everything

The air was thick with anticipation as we gathered in the dorm's common room, surrounded by papers, pens, and the weight of our future in front of us. Min-seo had practically forced us all into this meeting, and now, we were staring down the thing that could alter the course of everything—our contract.

"Are you sure we're ready for this?" I whispered to Hye-jin, who was sitting beside me. She seemed distracted, her fingers lightly tapping on the table.

"I don't know," she admitted, biting her lip. "It feels like too much too soon."

I could relate. The contract we were about to sign was more than just a promise. It was the foundation of everything we had been dreaming of. The launch of 'Moonlight Ventures' was just the beginning, and we all knew the weight of this decision would carry us forward into a future we weren't entirely sure we were prepared for.

Just then, Daniel, always the optimist, stood up with a smile, holding his contract in hand. "We can do this," he said, trying to rally us. "This is what we've been working for."

But his optimism didn't reach my heart. The reality was setting in—I couldn't ignore the nagging voice inside me that said, "What if we can't handle this? What if it all falls apart?"

I glanced over at Min-seo, who had been eerily quiet. She was reading her own contract, but there was something distant about her. I had never seen her like this before—was she starting to feel the weight of what we were about to do?

"Are you okay?" I asked, walking over to her.

She didn't look up immediately. Instead, she flipped a page, her eyes scanning the text. "I'm fine," she said softly. "But are we really ready for this? This contract... it's not just a piece of paper. It's everything."

I had to admit, I was feeling the same way. It wasn't just a school project anymore; it was our future, our careers, and possibly our friendships on the line. If we failed, we failed together. If we succeeded, we succeeded together.

The others were looking at us now, waiting for a decision. It was a collective moment, and the fear of the unknown hung heavy in the air.

Just then, Min-jun entered the room. His usual calm demeanor was replaced with a serious look, as if he had been contemplating this whole thing on his own for a while. "Everyone's looking at me, aren't they?" he said with a small, nervous laugh. But it quickly faded when he noticed the tension in the room.

"This is huge," he said, his voice steady. "And I think we need to really think about whether we want to commit to something like this. This isn't just a club anymore. We're talking about real contracts, potential sponsorships, and a future that we can't take lightly."

His words struck me. We had all been so caught up in the excitement, but now, it was clear: this wasn't a game. It was a responsibility.

After a long, heavy silence, Hye-jin spoke up. "I want this," she said, her voice trembling just slightly. "But I don't want to lose who we are. I don't want this to change everything about our friendship."

Min-seo nodded, her expression softening. "We can't let this change us. No matter what happens, we stick together."

I felt a little bit of relief at her words. But the decision still wasn't clear. Could we really go through with this? Could we sign away part of our lives and still keep our bond strong?

Finally, I stepped forward, my hand shaking as I picked up my pen. "We've come this far together," I said quietly. "Whatever happens, we'll face it as a team."

With that, one by one, we signed. Each of us made the commitment, knowing that this could change everything about our future—but hoping that, no matter what, we would still have each other.

Afterward, as we sat in silence, I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and fear. But one thing was certain: we had made our choice. The future was ours, and now, we had to make it work.

Diary Entry:

Dear Diary,

Today was... overwhelming. We all signed the contract today. I can't even explain how big of a decision that was. Everything is changing now. There's no going back.

I can't help but feel the pressure, but at the same time, I know we'll figure it out. We've always had each other, and that's not going to change, no matter what happens next.

Love,

Eun-ji
