Chapter 1 - I'm no longer married

Zephyrine POV

True love they say only exists in movies and novels. I guess that's true, and I found out the hard way.

'The world will fill empty without you, Zephy Please marry me.' Are the words that have changed my life and had landed me into miseries I couldn't escape from for months now.

I wanted nothing except fulfilling my dreams as a successful skincare producer, but my dreams were shattered after my long-time crush proposed to me three years ago. I was like every naĆÆve little girl who thinks everything will be perfect when I find true love. So I thought. Well, I found my true love but in fact it was fake, a pretense.

Again, just like every other day, I sat in the living room of my husband mansion where I was supposed to find happiness and lived a life like those in fairytales, but all I found was emptiness. This is what I get for believing that true love exist, who would believe me if I said, the man who used to flaunt his wife to everyone, he would take her out and promise her the world was nothing but a wolf in sheep's clothing, he waited to get what he wanted and I foolishly, blinded by the so-called love gave it all to him, and now I'm left alone to live with an arrogant and promiscuous man that cheats with me every day with different woman.

He entered the sitting with just a briefcase, his suit looking all ruffled up seeming like he had a rough night. He threw a paper to my face which I caught, and then I glanced down at the paper in my hands, the black ink on white paper were mocking on my fate.

"A divorce?"

"Sign that. Olive is back, and I won't want her to meet you in the house. She will be coming in the evening tomorrow, I want you to leave before then. Don't worry, you'll get compensated." He said without any remorse.

I was the one who defended him when Olive ridiculed him for being poor and worthless. Stating the fact that he could never be in her class. And now he wants her back?

"I won't divorce you, Michael." I threw the papers away. My heart shattering into a million pieces, a wave of pain surge through me.

"Do not test my patience, Zephyrine. I want you out of this house before the evening tomorrow. Of course, these papers should be signed before you leave. Now that Olive has decided to accept me, you want to ruin our relationship. You are of no use to me anymore, so you should leave." He said.

The pain of a heartbreak forced me to analyze the situation. He was rich now and Olive wants him, but I could not just accept the reality yet. He made many promises, and he should at least fulfill them.

"You promised to get my brother out of jail and my mother is still at the hospital waiting for her heart transplant, you promised you were going to pay for her bills." I said, which seemed to blaze his anger.

He let out a mocking laughter and said in a sarcastic tone. "I never asked your brother to murder, and I'm not the reason for your mother's sickness. I have no business with that, stop trying to impose your burden on me." He hissed venomous words, he referred to my family as a 'burden'.

I regretted loving this man who I thought loved me too.

"Where have I lacked, Mich? I did my best to be a good wife for you. Was loving you a mistake? What did I ever do to deserve this?" My voice cracked, tears threatening to fall.

"You want to know what you did wrong? Huh? Alright, I'll tell you. Loving me was a mistake. Are you satisfied now? Now sign those papers and leave with your miserable life." He gave me a disdainful look.

When did loving someone ever become a crime? No, there was no such thing has love in the first place. It never existed in the world we live in. Only occur in fairytales and in movies.

I was left with only one choice. Divorce him.

"After everything you put me through, now you want a divorce? Fine have it your way." I wiped my tears.

There's no point in fighting for a thing that does not exist in the first place.

"Great! You can also mention everything you want in the alimony. My company will compensate you as soon as possible." He said eagerly.

My company, he meant to say.

"I only want the Soap producing company. I don't think I'm asking for much. The company was mine to begin with." I told him in a cold tone.

His brows widened.

"You want the only soap producing company I own? I should have known, Zephyrine Riley, that you are selfish. You just proved it." He gave me a disdainful look.

The company was my idea, my capital. The soap was mine, I made the soap, and he stole my idea after seeing how it blossomed.

"Sign it, Zephyrine." He handed me a pen for me to sign. I stared at the blank line where I was supposed to write my name.

I looked at him for one last time and finally signed on the death note of my marriage.

I was no longer married.
