I ran so fast, but I couldn't catch up with Damien, despite the advantage he intentionally granted me by stopping several times to check up on me.
I miss human cities. At least, they have cars, compared to the werewolves who disregard cars because they can easily transform into their wolf form and run fast.
Now I get it. I am weak. Very weak. But, I will never give up.
Fortunately, it hasn't been long since I awakened my wolf, because if it had been long, and I was this weak, it was bad news.
I stopped running as I arrived at the border.
There were trees almost everywhere and small houses, including a very big house that was built at the center of all the other houses. There was also a watch tower that was taller than the majority of the trees.
It was night. Thanks to the lights that were stationed all over the border's houses, I saw Damien standing tall and waiting for me. He had shifted into his human form.
"You need serious training, Anastasia". He was looking at me and his hands were behind his back as he said to me.
I changed into my human form.
My whole body was drenched in sweat and I held my waist and was panting fast, unlike Damien who looked like he had just woken up from a beauty sleep.
I sat down on the floor and didn't listen to the words that were coming out of Damien's mouth.
I wasn't in the mood to listen to him.
"Beta Damien, I'm glad you've returned! As soon as you left, rogue werewolves attacked our territory. They injured some of our warriors and killed two of them!".
I curiously looked at the person who had rushed to Damien's side and spoke. He was standing in front of Damien and beads of sweat were on his forehead. 'Rogue werewolves again? What's even their problem? This is something one would never hear happening in human cities'. I thought to myself, before I listened to their conversation.
"Tell me exactly what happened after I left the border, Gamma". Damien ordered the person.
'Gamma? He's the Gamma? He is younger than I expected'. I thought. My eyes fixed on the young Gamma, who looked around twenty-six years old.
"I think there's a spy among us, Beta Damien. Because those rogue werewolves who had killed our Alpha and Luna, attacked the minute you left. And, no one except me and our warriors knew that you had left the border. We have to put an end to this nonsense quickly. We must find their spies and hunt them down tonight". The Gamma said, and what he said made absolute sense to me, making me nod my head as I agreed with what he had said.
"Damn. Those pests again". Damien cursed under his breath. I feel it. He's annoyed.
I stood up from the ground, and that was when the Gamma noticed my presence. Maybe he didn't notice my presence due to the crisis.
"She-?". The Gamma's eyes widened. He pointed a finger at me in surprise. "What's our brainless Luna doing here, Beta Damien? Is she here to cause trouble for us?".
I frowned upon hearing what the Gamma said about me. I know that the late Luna Anastasia was a big pain in the head, but it's rude for him to say that out loud. So rude, and I don't appreciate that! Currently, I am Luna Anastasia, so I won't allow anyone to talk about me in that way again.
"Gamma, please, what trouble do you think I would cause? Didn't you see that I was on my own and didn't say anything? Except you are blind to see that". I said to him and smiled innocently when I saw the speechless look on his face.
"Since when did you learn how to exchange words?". Damien asked me. He must have been surprised too, because the Anastasia he knew would have thrown a tantrum after Gamma said that to her.
I paused. I didn't reply to Damien in a hurry. It was only after I thought of a reply that I answered him, "I didn't learn. Elektra told me what to say".
'Clara, how dare you lie using my name?!'. Elektra scolded me, but I kept a straight face as I totally ignored her and acted as if she never existed.
"Elektra told you what to say? Who's Elektra? Is she invisible? Why couldn't I see her or sense her". I heard Gamma mutter, before he chuckled and said to Damien, "Beta Damien, why did you bring her to the border? She would only cause trouble for us and slow us down. We don't have time or the luxury to care for her when we have rogue werewolves and their spies to hunt down and kill".
"She's going to hunt down the rogue werewolves with us after I finish finding the spy tonight and dealing with him or her. We're leaving at midnight". Damien said to the Gamma, who panicked.
"This is unacceptable, Beta Damien. What can she do to help us?! We can not bring her with us! She will be an inconvenience to us during the hunt! She would make the hunt difficult for us!". Gamma glared at me as he disagreed using a loud voice. I feel a headache already.
Could it be that he still thinks that I am wolf-less? Is that why he thinks I am an inconvenience?
My eyes suddenly darted across the opposite side of the border, and seeing the injured werewolf warriors who weakly sat on the ground and were groaning in pain, caused my doctor's instinct to become active, because I saw that there wasn't anyone treating them.
Werewolves are unlike humans, who have enough doctors, paramedics, and so on.
In the werewolf world, they have very few trained doctors and paramedics, and before the doctor or paramedic can show up, I am afraid the severely wounded werewolves might die.
I left Damien and the Gamma's side without thinking and ran towards the injured warriors.
The only thought I had in my mind was to treat those injured warriors before their condition could become worse.
