The cavern trembled as a deafening, guttural roar echoed through its vast expanse. The sickly glow of the fungal growths flickered under the force of the vibration, casting erratic shadows that danced like specters upon the jagged stone walls.
Then, they came.
From every crevice, from behind the membranous walls that pulsed with grotesque vitality, corrupted beasts surged forth in a writhing tide of hunger and fury. Their bodies were misshapen, some bearing extra limbs, others stretched and twisted into unnatural shapes. Their eyes—if they had any—burned with an eerie yellow glow, devoid of thought, yet brimming with a primal malice.
The air grew thick with the scent of decay and sulfur. Claws scraped against stone, a cacophony of gnashing teeth and wet, slithering movements filling the cavern like the chorus of an unspeakable nightmare.
