Chapter 60 - Sacrifice

The battle was over.

The revenant's final wail had long faded, its form reduced to smoldering ash beneath Damien's Sacred Flames. Yet, even as the battlefield settled into an eerie silence, Damien remained standing—his sword still raised, his body trembling ever so slightly. The golden-white fire flickered around him before dimming, the brilliance of its glow retreating into his skin like a tide pulling away from shore.

Then, his legs buckled.

"Damien!" Anna rushed forward just in time to catch him before he collapsed. His weight was heavier than she expected, and she gritted her teeth as she steadied him, lowering him gently onto a nearby stone. He was still conscious, but his breathing was ragged, his skin damp with sweat.

"That last attack…" Damien exhaled sharply, tilting his head back. His golden eyes were dim, lacking their usual sharpness. "Absolute Slash… burns more energy than I expected when combined with Sacred Flames."
