How was he sure that the Blood race blood in his body had been awakened...because inside his mind, a series of information that had not existed before had suddenly appeared in his mind.
The information that appeared also included the Blood Race rankings—at least, he knew about the first stage. The Blood Knight was the first stage in the Blood Race hierarchy. At this stage, they possessed three abilities.
Blood Surge, allowed the Blood Knight to enter a half-unconscious state with his power receiving a five times increase...this was already on par with the strongest of Rank 1 slayers...however, for Blood Knights, it came at the cost of almost losing their sanity till the ability was over.
Damien remembered the chaotic thoughts that had appeared in his mind when he had entered that state, however, it seemed that there was something in his body that prevented him from going berserk..it probably had something to do with his angel bloodline. Since the source of the blood race power came from their blood and dark element mana...it made sense that it could also be countered by the holy light mana of the Angel Race.
The second ability was perhaps the most significant ability of the Blood race...Blood Drain, the members of the blood race were known as Blood Suckers...they could absorb the blood of the monsters they killed, turning it into dark element mana and blood essence in their body. By draining the monster's blood essence their abilities grew faster than ever.
The third ability was a skill that increased the battle abilities of the Blood Race. The combat abilities of all blood race members were deeply engrained into their blood.
When a member of the Blood race successfully awakens their dormant blood, their combat abilities, especially their speed and reflexes, battle instincts, and perception, are greatly honed.
After looking through the information in his head, he could not wait to go and test his abilities.
He had made much progress and he was amazed by the progress he had made so far.
His strongest weapon was now his Blood race abilities. With Blood Surge and his increased combat perception, he would be equal to a newbie rank 2 slayer.
It was followed by his Angel race abilities...though not as powerful as he had yet to awaken the true Battle angel spells, the two skills he had learned did not lose out in terms of usefulness and importance.
" My slayer rank has also broken through to the next rank. I should be a Rank 1 slayer now..." he thought running Force energy through his body.
If he truly went all out, perhaps even a rank 3 Slayer would be defeated.
The Abbysrend Colossus was a powerful mid-tier Soldier-level beast, equal to a rank 2 slayer, yet it had no means to defend itself against Damien.
After resting and refining his Force energy, he put on his uniform and walked out of the infirmary. He walked to the dorm. Immediately he entered he saw the two figures of his roommates.
" Good, you are awake. We thought you would never wake," Sony began but was shut down by Scott.
" How are you feeling? " Scott asked, interrupting the blabbering fool. " Better.. " Damien sighed and sat down on his bed. It seems that everyone knew about him being unconscious for two entire weeks.
" By the way...I knew you were pretty amazing the first time I saw you but honestly speaking you are more amazing than I thought " Sony said with a mixture of amazement and disbelief.
" Huh? " Damien muttered, confused. " What the hell is he talking about, did they find out that I killed a soldier-ranked beast? "
" We all heard that you managed to hold on against a soldier-level beast, even if it was for 2 minutes till your Instructors came to save your c...that is amazing, plus you had the highest number of kills for the slave-level beasts....you are more famous than you were "
" Oh, It is nothing special " Damien replied casually. Damien's casual reply was like a heavy hammer that had just crushed into the hearts of his two roommates.
"Kids our age are supposed to be struggling to kill Slave level beasts, but you went against all common sense and fought with a Soldier Level Beast, and you are saying it is nothing...Tell us how the hell are we supposed to compete "
" What? " Damien asked seeing the intense gaze of his two roommates. Why did they look like they wanted to eat him up?
" Nothing " they both replied. If Damien knew what they were thinking he would feel bad for them because he had not managed to only hold off the beast but had killed it.
" We were about to go to the Arena, wanna join? " Sony asked
" The arena? " Damien asked, surprised. The arena was a huge building with several square platforms for duels. The Academy encouraged duels among students and so the arena was the place where most official duels were held.
However, the Academy rules prevented students from hurting each other seriously in a duel. Anyone who intentionally broke this rule would have their limbs broken and thrown out of the Academy.
The Academy was especially strict when it came down to the rules.
" Who is fighting ?"
" You must have heard of Carl? "Scott asked. Damien nodded in response: He is said to be the strongest person in your class "
" You are right but compared to you he is nothing " Sony replied.
Damien looked at him in surprise: " You don't seem to like him that much "
"He is too arrogant and conceited, the dude has a bunch of lackeys who like to cause trouble wherever they go" explained Sony
"So who is he having the duel with"
" Sara " Scott replied.
" Okay, let's go and watch"
So the three roommates left for the Arena.
On the way as they talked Damien came to understand the cause of the duel. When he was announced the winner of the Demon Hunt, Carl's followers began to stir up the water by saying that Damien won by a fluke or by cheating, and even Carl came in to say that if he met Damien he would crush him into pulp.
However for some reason, the students of Damien's class got more agitated than was expected, and Sara came out to even challenge Carl.
However, the problem was that Sara was still injured and had not been fully healed.
Carl accepted the challenge. Perhaps Carl who had once been beaten by Sara had made improvements in his strength but the main reason he accepted the challenge was that Sara was injured.
He would take advantage of this to end the humiliation, She had put him through on the first day.

Academy Arena,
The arena was like one of those Roman Coloseums and there were many square platforms in the center, it could host about eleven duels at a time. At that moment several students were pouring into the Arena.
A burly youth sat in the corner of the Arena. He was surrounded by a group of students who were fawning over him.
The youth was Carl, however today he was not focused on the fake praises his lackeys heaped on him, he was remembering his elder brother who was a senior at the Academy's words.
His elder brother told him to win the duel today because Talent scouts from guilds formed by the most powerful student in the Academy would come. He needed to impress them. At the same time, he noticed the students of the Emperor Class approaching.
In the lead was Sara. She was holding her crossbow in her hand, she glanced in his direction with an expressionless face
He had heard there was a Soldier level beast in their expedition and Sara was injured...even the heavens wanted him to defeat her now.
He walked up to the arena, with a smirk on his face.
" You should admit defeat, I will not go easy on you "
" Do I need you to go easy on me? " Sara replied with a nonchalant expression.
Carl's lip curled up into a smile and he walked closer to Sara till he was less than three meters away from her.
" Hmm, if it was before..I would not dare to say this but now I hear you are badly hurt " Carl said, when he saw the change in her expression, he smiled.
His words now had been a probe, he wanted to confirm whether Sara's injuries had been healed.
There were a lot of basic tier potions that could heal injuries, but the change in her expression that had come when he mentioned her injuries, confirmed that she had not recovered from them.
" You must really like that Damien fellow, to be willing to fight for him, even though you are injured " he added.
" Less nonsense, this has nothing to do with him !! " Sara shouted and pulled out her bow.
" Hmph.." Carl's gaze darkened, he could tell that she had feelings for Damien with the way she had reacted.
" Sara is mine...that Damien fellow should better scram "
He put on a pair of gloves. The Arena had a total of five referees their job was to regulate the match and make sure no one got hurt badly.
He signaled for the duel to begin.
