As Kraign's life slowly ebbed away, on the far southern side of the City of Light, a black dot materialized out of thin air and grew steadily, pulsating like a live ball of shadow. Dark tendrils emerged from the entity's core and grew steadily, wrapping all the buildings throughout the city in the darkest shadow, obscuring the city from the moonlight.
The tendrils spread like a dark fog until the entire city was encompassed in a thick black fog.
The sounds of dogs and critters snapped quiet and there was a deadly silence throughout the city. There were no signs of movement, or any noises emitted from the deserted streets. The wind stopped blowing and everything in reality froze in that city. Dogs froze midstride and cars seemed trapped in time, frozen in reality. The clear sound of silence was as vivid as a picture.
However, in one particular dark alley, the tendrils drew closer to the boy in the floor.
In one sudden movement and with barely a whisper, the entire dark fog entity suddenly rushed into the boys forehead in less that the blink of an eye.
The city, once again returned to normal, was again alive with the sounds of speeding cars, mad dogs and creepy critters screaming their lungs out in the night.
Kraign opened his eyes and groaned in pain.
"What the fuck happened, I thought I was dying. Then why am I still here, what the hell is happening here", Kraign couldn't help but think as he looked around him, barely able to stand.
His face suddenly scowled at the moon and he snarled l, shouting in anguish,
"LET ME DIE ALREADY, NOW YOU ALSO WANT TO TAKE DEATH AWAY FROM ME TOO, WHAT HAVE I DONE TO DESERVE THIS?"
"Hahahahahahhahahahahahaha, you really are stupid, they did warn me you would be!", a raspy deep voice exclaimed.
"Huh, have I gone mad", Kraign thought out loud, glancing around him.
"Whose there, is anyone there?"
"I suppose this is to be expected, the name is Shadow. And I already know yours so don't bother with introductions boy."
"Who said that, show yourself", grunted Kraign in pain, struggling to turn around and searching all around him. The dark shadows of the alley did nothing to reassure his safety. Desperately, he looked all around him, trying to identify the voice owner.
Suddenly, a dark fog started pouring out from around his feet.
Kraign backed away slowly, disturbed by the mysterious mist coming from around him.
The mist quickly drew together and formed the shape of a man. Kraign stumbled backwards and his back hit the wall behind him. His eyes were panicked and he quicky grabbed a piece of wood from the ground and got ready to protect himself.
The figure slowly solidified to show an exact replica of himself, dressed in exactly the same dark jeans and black t-shirt as him, although more clean and less torn.
"You said you wanted to know who I am kid, well, I'm your second chance, I'm your EVOLUTION!"
