Chapter 20 - Chapter 19

The city lights blurred as I zipped through the night sky, the familiar chill of the wind barely registering. It had become a routine, this nightly patrol.

Weeks had passed and yet, tonight's quiet was shattered by a frantic call. My old friend Diana or Wonder Woman as the world knew her by. Spoke with a whirlwind of worry. "Anos, there are… things. Monsterous things! We need your help, they are way too strong," she blurted, her typically stoic tone replaced with genuine fear. It was a description that sent a jolt of cold dread through me. Monstrous things? That could only mean… No, it couldn't be. Not here.

Before I could question her further, my phone vibrated again. Barry, the Flash, his voice a high-pitched buzz of panic. "Anos! Dude, you gotta get here, there are these weird things running about… they are terrifying and fast but not as fast as me!"

Another call came, this time from my cousin Kara, or Supergirl as most knew her. "Anos, its bad, there are these creatures and villians in different places, some are even from your world! You need to hurry!"

Then Bruce or Batman as people usually called him by. His voice cold and serious cutting through the noise. "Midoriya, we're dealing with an anomaly. Unexplained beings are appearing across the city, they possess strength we are not accustomed to. We need to combine forces."

How could this be happening? Why now? Suddenly, everything seemed to twist and tangle in my mind. Nomu? The League of Villains? There? In the DC world? That meant that DC villains could be in my world; this was a chaos I hadn't expected and most certainly did not enjoy.

I didn't have much time to process when I saw them - The Joker, grinning like a madman, and Scarecrow, his eyes burning with a sadistic glee, standing a mere block away. Their presence crackled with a sick energy that made my jaw clench. I landed silently before them, my eyes narrowed.

A shift, an internal flick of a switch, and the world changed. My clothes dissolved away, replaced by the familiar blue and red suit. The Joker let out a delighted cackle, his laughter sounding like fingernails on a chalkboard. While Scarecrow's grin widened, revealing yellowed teeth.

They rushed me, trying to double-team me with their own styles of combat. Joker was fast, but I was still faster and Scarecrow's gas was easily blown away by my super breath. I dodged, weaving through attacks, my fist connecting with Joker's jaw with a resounding crack. He flew back, his laughter cut short by the force. Scarecrow tried to claw at me but before he could use his hands I used Heat vision to knock him back. I used my super speed to throw them off balance, sending them reeling like they'd been hit by a train. They jumped back with shock written all over their faces.

Then, I flew, ascending into the sky, the world spread out before me like a game board. I unleashed the full force of my laser vision, the beams cutting through the air as they hit the ground at their feet, leaving scorched trails where they struck.

They weren't strong, not by my standards. It was like fighting the equivalent of street thugs back in my old world. The fact that some of the Nomu I sensed earlier were stronger made them pathetic. Within minutes they were both down groaning in pain, their bravado completely gone. This whole fight has been an absolute joke, my power was way too great to even handle here again the same as back in dc. I felt no exhaustion, no strain. It was almost… underwhelming.

With the villains taken down, I changed back to my normal attire and flew home. My mind a whirlwind of confusion and concern. When I walked into the living room, the house was silent except for the tapping of my dad's laptop as he focused on work. He glanced up and gave me a look—a look I knew all too well. "Sit down, Anos, we need to talk."

I sighed, a wave of fatigue washing over me. I poured myself some coffee and sat beside him on the sofa. "How was your night?" he asked, his eyes searching mine. "Where have you been?"

I was going to lie, to say I was out with Momo again. But I knew he wouldn't buy it. He probably already knew. "Do not lie to me." He interrupted, his voice low and serious. "I want the truth. No matter what it is, I won't be mad." He continued.

I swallowed, my throat dry. "I… I've been out fighting villains." I finally confessed.

His eyes widened, and he choked on his coffee, sputtering as he tried to regain his composure. He looked like he was processing a million thoughts at once. "Fighting… villains? W-what? How…?" he finally stammered.

I couldn't even meet his gaze. "Weeks," I said, "I've been doing it for weeks."

Silence descended upon us like a heavy curtain. He didn't yell; he didn't panic. He just sat there, his mind clearly wrestling with this new reality.

After what felt like an eternity, he asked me a million questions. About what types of villains, how I've been fighting them, if I got hurt… We talked for what felt like hours, and he lectured me on the importance of safety, the need to be careful, the risks I was taking. He didn't agree with the way I'd been handling things, but he understood at least a little.

"If you're going to do this, you need to be safe." He said finally, "And maybe need something more… practical for fighting." He raised an eyebrow at me, a curious glint in his eye.

I followed him to the basement, a sense of bewilderment rising within me. He hit the light switch, revealing a sight that made my jaw drop. There, neatly arranged on racks and tables, were new hero costumes—sleek, durable-looking suits crafted from some kind of advanced material. Gadgets of all sorts lay beside them, futuristic and intimidating.

"I've been working on these, just in case. I know you wouldn't stop, not after I saw what you were capable of." He explained, a rare smile gracing his lips. "Now, we add another layer of protection, and we train together. No more sneaking out alone at night, got it?"

I couldn't help the small, relieved smile that tugged at my lips. It seemed I was going to have a new challenge… and it was going to be a family affair.
