January 29th, 2050
"Everyone I have some bad news." The CEO began. "I have gotten into huge debt so I have no choice, but to sell the company."
"So what will happened to us!" An employee interrupted. "Will the person, who bought the building, hired us?"
"No...the person, who bought this building, will remodel it and turn it into an apartment." The CEO frowned. "I'm sorry everyone, but today will be our last at this job."
"Can you believe this crap!?" a male employee asked. "Suddenly, we all got laid off without any notice!"
"Uh...yeah...this is a little unexpected." I replied. "I don't know what have gotten the boss in debt to the point where he has to sell the company!"
"You've been here the longest, William!" the male employee continued. "Maybe the boss will tell us the reason if you speak up about it!"
Oh, I almost forgot to introduce myself. My name is William Right and I'm a life insurance salesman and also the vice-president and also the co-founder of this company. The CEO, John Lens, is not only my best friend, but also the other co-founder of this Life Insurance Company.
"I don't know, Blake." I replied. "Is asking the reason really necessary when the company has already been sold?"
"I agree with Blake." the female employee whispered. "We should at least know the reason why we all lost our job."
One after another, other employees keep whispering to me about the same goddamn reason! What kind of debt did the boss gets himself in!?
"Fine, I'll do it." I sighed. "I also want to know the reason why the boss been so down lately."
"Hey John, I wanted to ask something...as your vice-president!" I announced as I raise my hand. "What is the reason behind your debt?"
"Ah, William...the truth is...I invest a huge amount of money into this cryptocurrency that promise high returns." John replied. "Sadly, it was a huge scam and I lost all of my money!"
From where he was standing, John could only see a silent crowds of employees, but all I heard down here were aggressive comments and blames for their lost of jobs. Knowing him all my life, there's no way this small crypto scam could get him this easily. There must be another reason why he must have lied to everyone! I must get down to the bottom of this!
When everyone wasn't noticing, I quietly sent him a text to meet me at the rooftop of the building to talk.
After everybody left, we both arrive at the destination. John immediately pulled out a cigarette and light it up to smoke. He hasn't smoked any cigarettes in years! What have gotten into him!?
"Give me that!" I yelled as I grabbed the cigarette from his hand and throw it to the ground. "Now tell me the real reason why you sold the our company without discussing with me!"
"So you saw through that bullshit earlier huh?" John sighed. "I thought that reason was convincing enough to even get you."
"Loss of investment into a cryptocurrency scam?" I laughed. "I have heard better lies from you than that!"
"I guess I can't hide anything from you." He replied. "The truth is...I'm tired...I'm really tired of living in this world...without my family...without Bella."
"The truth is...I sold the company and transfer all the money to your account." John continued. "I know that this job isn't your dream, so use that money and follow your dreams."
"Why do you sound like you are about to kill yourself?" I worried. "This has something to do with Bella's death, isn't it?"
"Get a hold of yourself!" I yelled as I grab his shirt collar. "Your wife might be gone, but you still have me and my family!"
"Thank you, Will." John smiled. "I know that you guys all considered me a part of your family, but both my wife and un-born child is gone!"
"Bella was pregnant when she died in that taxi accident!?" I responded. "How did that happened?"
John handed me an envelope full of x-ray photos with what seems like a baby fetus inside. The date taken was only two days before the accident. He told me that the coroner found this inside Bella's purse at the scene of the accident.
"If only I had driven her back home from the hospital that day." He frowned. "Maybe she would've not died in that accident!"
"William, could you go get us a couple of beers from the fridge?" John asked. "I want to have a drink with you."
I brought him down to the office and sat him down before I went to check the fridge. Shit! All of our beers are gone so I need to head to the market to get more, but I'm worry about this idiot doing something stupid when he's alone!
"Hey, we are all out of beers." I started. "Let's head down to the bar across the street instead."
John nodded his head and walked behind me while we are crossing the street, but something doesn't feels right. He's been awfully quiet.
After I cross to the other side of the street, I looked behind and I was shock to see John standing in the middle of the street. That idiot is still having that stupid thought!
"Goddamn it! Get over here you fool!" I yelled. "Bella won't be happy if she sees you like this!"
John said nothing and just smile at me while standing in the middle of the street.
Before my eyes, a truck ran into my best friend and killing him.
I immediately called 911 and rush them to get here as soon as possible, but this accident wasn't the only catastrophe that destroy my 51st birthday.
In an instance, I received a phone call from my family saying that my father also falls into the cryptocurrency scam that John mentioned!
Now my family has fallen apart, my mother is a coma after a stroke from shock, and my father has gone mad! What the hell is going with my life!
"What's going on…what's going on." I mumbled in shocked as I stood there. "What's going on!"
"Kid! Watch out!" A man warned as he saw a car running directly at me. "The break of that driver's car is broken!"
It was too late to dodge, I closes my eyes and accept my fate. Maybe this way I can be release from all of this despair and sadness.
Shit…why can't I just have a quick death? Why do I have to lay here and bleed to death? Why do I have to feel all these physical and emotional pain at the same time?
"Is William Right dead?" A man voice echoed. "With that impact, no one can survive."
What is with these old man!? Instead of wondering if I'm dead, you should call the ambulance when you see someone got hit by a car.
"Both of this set-up accident was a success." The other replied. "Lets go back to mr. David Lawrence and collect our rewards."
David Lawrence? Isn't he the guy who tried to sabotage John and Bellas' relationship when they were in college? So this is the person behind their death, but what about me? I didn't do anything to the guy!?
"Did you kill all the family members of William Right and recover the evidence of mr.Lawrence's crime?" The man continued. " Their existence is a threat to the Lawrence family."
"Yeah I did." The other man nodded as he pulled out a knife. "But let's do this just in case."
The man stabbed my body nonstop until i finally died.
If only I get another chance at life, I will definitely become a multi billionaire at a young age and then maybe I can take down David Lawrence before he can destroy the life of my friend and family.
