"Yeah. If they had any evidence, I would have already been arrested, so I bet he takes the matter in his own hands." I nodded.
"They will probably come to school." Jordan pushed up his glasses again.
I nodded again,
"Yeah, for sure. The more people see it, the better. I figured that this would also be part of the reason everyone believed that I was guilty." I kicked their legs under the table.
Danny howled and everyone else hissed.
"What about me?" Omar asked, pointing at himself.
"Why do I get kicked?"
"True. Didn't see you badmouthing me." I nodded and shoved a shot in his direction as an apology.
"Have you even tried, looking into his future?" Danny asked, accusingly pointing at Omar.
I grabbed Omar's hand and flipped the coin. The gold coin didn't turn black, and I stopped, trying again, but it didn't work.
"It doesn't work." I think I don't want to know and sabotaged it.
"You don't want to know?" Jordan got me figured out, and I pressed my lips together. At least I wasn't forced to look into other's futures and pasts again, like yesterday. That was already something to be happy about.
"Two of three friends being unfilial is enough for me."
"Ohhh, it's the first time hearing the word friend out of your mouth…" Danny got corny, so I splashed him with my glass.
"Go away." There wasn't much in it, so he wasn't that wet. He still retaliated, and I got really wet, contrary to him.
It ended with all of us soaking wet with alcohol.
"You idiots! Now he only needs a lighter and we are goners!" Jordan yelled before laughing his ass off.
I chuckled,
"Why are you so dumb, what am I doing with such traitorous buddies."
Danny hugged me, which felt gross with us being wet, but this time I didn't push him away immediately.
Now I don't feel so alone anymore.
Still, he was gross and when I couldn't take it anymore, he was flung to Jordan, who caught him. I stood up and went to the bathroom, telling them to get towels from the staff while I was gone.
Staggering, I walked down the carpeted corridor to the toilet, thinking that if Henry followed me even to the toilet, it would be really too much. After using the toilet, I got rid of my shirt, and held it under the water before wringing it out. The door opened and Henry entered, leaning silently with his back against the door.
"I didn't kill her. Have you ever thought of just talking to me, and checking out what I have to say?" He looked unmoved by my comment.
"I get that you are grieving. And it is true that I knew her a bit, but I just touched her hand a few times to look into her past, nothing more." A fist came flying the moment I finished, and I sidestepped, grabbing his arm from behind and pushing him against the sink.
I was dizzy from the movement, but I could hold on now that surprise was not on his side.
"Cool off your head a bit, WILLYA?" He tried to wrestle free, but I had him securely fixated. Opening the faucet, I let water flow over his hair for a few seconds.
"You fucker, listen in. No matter what Henrietta had written about me, the facts are, we knew each other for a year, met once or twice a week, she ASKED me to look into her past, which I did." He moved erratically, and I let cold water flow over his head again until he stopped.
"I DID HER A FAVOR, you get me?" He started again to move, and I let the water flow, before he calmed down once more.
"Do you want to know what I saw while looking in her past?" I asked him.
"Stop the bullshitting." A deep voice growled.
"I heard screams, fucking loud screams, have you experienced an earthquake or anything? I also saw pictures of people dying, being squished by buildings and concrete." I started to lose my strength, the alcohol getting to me. He didn't react, which didn't tell me whether he knew what I was talking about or not, but so be it.
"You can follow me, and see with your own eyes if I am a murderer. But you can't attack me again, yesterday was a single occasion, if I get further injured, it will be ME who goes to the police, and contrary to you, I have eyewitnesses of your first attack." I let go of him, and he straightened up, stroking his wet hair back. He turned and saw himself in the mirror, freezing fully.
I get it, he looks so similar to his sister, it must be torturous to look into the mirror. Opening the faucet at the hottest temperature, I let it flow until condensation settled over the mirror, while I continued to wring my shirt out.
These few moments it took until he couldn't see himself anymore, there was a strange peace in the room. If I had gotten to know him without the murder accusations, we likely could have become friends.
"Don't you have a tracker or anything?" I asked while turning the water off.
"So you don't have to personally stalk me? Think about it. I knew her, and I am willing to go easy on her brother. But do me a favor. When the hatred overcomes you, ask yourself this questions; 'What if he didn't do it?'"
