"Hmph." Wei Ning snorted to dodge her father's hands when he reached out to lift her up in his embrace and moved her little head towards the other way.
Remembering the inappropriate action he pulled earlier with his wife forgetting his little daughter at the side, Wei Jingchen touched his nose with his fingers, guiltily and looked towards his wife, signaling her with his eyes and brows to come forward and explain the earlier situation to their daughter, but Madam Wei raised her brows innocently and then, shrugged her shoulders in return, as if saying; I'm innocent here. You are the one who started it so you have to end it too. I just played along.
Getting such response from his wife, Wei Jingchen twitched his lips at the mother-daughter playing antincs with him.
Defeated Wei Jingchen could only turn to his Little daughter. "Ahem" He cleared his throat to ease the awkwardness between the father and daughter. "That... Xiao Ning. Look, father is leaving for a long time that's why he was taking some memories of your mother with him. Don't you also want to give father a hug... and wish him a safe journey?" As Wei Jingchen said this, he again reached out his hand, expectantly.
Hearing his father's words about departure, the sad feeling which had flew out of the widow earlier, again surged into her heart and this time she didn't dodged his father's embrace, though, her face still showed a little reluctance.
Putting her little arms around her father's neck, little Wei Ning clung to him like a little koala.
"Hahaha." Wei Jingchen let out a hearty laughter seeing his daughter hanging to him like this.
Hearing his laughter, Wei Ning put her chin on his shoulder and hide her face away from him.
Hugging his daughter with one hand, Wei Jingchen held Madam Wei's hand in the other and left the room.
Standing at the high city walls, Madam Wei and Wei Ning both waved their hands on the departing Wei Jingchen with his ten thousands soldiers.
Since Wei Jingchen couldn't have his whole Shi army near the capital, the rest of the his army stayed in Qingzhou and would meet him directly in Shenyang, Lianong at the northern shore.
Seeing her father's departure, Wei Ning had a bad feeling but thinking that it may be because, things were not going the way she had thought that's why she was feeling uneasy.
Returning back at the Duke's mansion, Madam Wei brought Wei Ning to the guest hall where a woman in her early thirties was sitting in a graceful and elegant posture, sipping on her tea with her head lowered. Seemingly waiting for the host to receive her.
"Miss Jing." With a face full of smiles, even though, the redness from the corner of her eyes hadn't disappeared, Madam Wei stepped forwards and greeted the woman, Miss Jing.
"Madam Wei." Miss Jing, also stood up to return Madam Wei's greeting and nodded at her.
"Thank you for accepting my request to visit the Duke's mansion, Miss Jing." Madam Wei politely said.
"Ah! It's no trouble Madam. In fact it was my own blessings to be invited by the Madam herself." Both females exchanged their words showing their immense etiquette and politeness. In the middle of their humbleness, Wei Ning couldn't help but feel drowsiness.
"Aaawh" Covering her mouth with her small hand, she yawned making a sound which caught both ladies' attention.
"Xiao Ning." Madam Wei called her out with a hint of warning in her tone as she gave an awkward smile Miss Jing and then again glanced back at Wei Ning and her gaze expressed the same intention as her voice. "Behave yourself." Madam Wei said firmly and Wei Ning immediately straighten her back, looking like an obedient little doll.
Looking at the Mother and daughter duo, one trying to be strict and another trying to be obedient, Miss Jing's eyes were filled with amusement under her lashes as she lowered her head to take a sip from the tea served by the maid beside her.
Covering her lips behind her long sleeves, Miss Jing gulped down the tea in one go and put the cup aside at the lower table at her side. The maid by her side immediately went forward to fill the cup again, Miss Jing didn't stopped her instead she turned to look at the Little Wei Ning who was trying hard to become little obedient lady.
Giving a once over at the little 'young lady', Miss Jing turned to Madam Wei: "Eldest miss is looking obedient, she accepts her mistakes and follows her elder's words. Madam, if eldest miss doesn't have any problem with me, I would like to take her as my disciple."
And just like that, Wei Ning got a teacher and became her little disciple.
She would follow her master all day round and learn new and interesting things everyday.
Her study materials were very different from the modern world.
In her modern world, at the age of three, she started to go to kindergarten, there she learnt to make friends and behave properly then she was taught to draw strokes and memorize words but here in historical world, the teacher herself would come at her home and teach her. Since, she was the only child in the Duke's house, Madam Wei let Wei Ning choose a study partner of her age among the children of servants of the Duke's mansion.
In her last life, she didn't had any study partner nor she had any friends. Because she was so busy chasing after that damn Jiang Cheng that Wei Ning never thought about making a friend. But in this life, since, she didn't have to chase after that demon Jiang Cheng, Wei Ning thought to make a friend whom she could trust and share the so called life and death vows of friendship.
Following her mother's arrangements, Wei Ning invited the kids in the Duke's mansion to play with her and to establish a bond between them.
The kids were excited to play with the little Wei Ning and so was Wei Ning.
Her anticipation to find a friend was just..... so much!!! That she couldn't stop her cherry red lips from grinning ear to ear.
"Miss, be careful." A maid tried to stop Wei Ning as ran towards the garden area to meet her new friends and find one or two best friends.
