Chapter 37 - BlackSteel Grand Hall

A week later.

The news of the gate opening had spread throughout the entire shelter, even to the slums sending a pulse of panic through all those who heard it.

Of course, the blacksteel lord was quick to address the situation, assuring the denizens of the shelter of their safety and security.

He announced that he would be holding screenings for those who were willing to clear the gate, promising bountiful wealth to whomever volunteers and came back in one piece.

A call to every straggler in the shelter, even those from the slums that qualified made their way up the shelter towards the blacksteel hall.

"Stick together" Victorias voice resounded as they made their way through a crowd of individuals trying to get through a massive iron gate.

They were currently right outside the blacksteel grand hall for the testing holding today.

"He's already moving" Hamdel pointed out, causing Victoria to hurry forward and clamp close to her father. The old man had decided to accompany them, dispite his previous disapproval of using status to get in.

But this daughter of his knew exactly how to work around his 'strong sense of morality' eventually forcing him to come with.

As he walked towards the participants crowding around the gate, he released a formless pushing pressure that forced those who came in two meters of him to be pushed back as he walked forward.

This of course did not apply to Victoria and her friends, so instead of going against the crowd like everyone else, they simply slipped in behind the man with silver hair.

A few seconds later they were inside the main compound of the grand hall. Which not surprisingly had several more people, but wasn't as crowded as the outside.

Guilliman quickly scanned the area looking at the individual around.

"Level 3 huh?" He smirked , it wasn't until he heard the actual announcement from the blacksteel lord that he knew Victoria had been lying to them.

There was no real limit for who could participate actually, it was just a ruse by her to work them near death. Even now there were people much weaker than them in the main compound.

"You're on your own from here" Victorias father, Barthalemew Silverstein glanced at the cohort and walked towards the grand halls main doors where a set of two stone statues stood.

These two massive humanoid statues was what was stopping the participants from entering the hall. Of course if you could beat it then Entering was not a problem, however could any of them truly achieve such?

"Hehe, that old bastard must be feeding you guys some good stuff" but instead of feeling any sort of pressure from standing infront of this thing, Victoria father jokeningly played with it's arms testing how flexible they were.

"Nice" without a second thought after his inspection he walked directly through the heavy doors and went straight into the grand hall.

This scene caused those around to frown, truth was, not a lot of people knew Victorias family, even the father seemed to be foreign. Seeing him walk in like that made them feel strange.

Was this some powerhouse they didn't know about? That couldn't be right though as several of the people in this compound were also of Nobel decent.

There was no one of importance they didn't know.

The following minutes, several of the participants went forward to recreate what the silver haired man had done and were severely injured as a result.

Clearly the old man was a powerhouse,

"Okay, we'll spread out and do the challenges, it should be very easy seeing that most of us have reached level 5" Victoria said calmly looking at the various challenges around.

The other way of entering the hall was to pass the myriad tests stationed all over the compound. This was one of the reasons she made them level up so fast, these tests had to do with the best of the best.

Passing even one required top percentile level effency and power. If they had come any later, the records left by much stronger Slayers would render their efforts useless, as the more these challenges were beaten the higher the difficulty would become.

"Okay!!" They all nodded separating quickly and heading towards the challenge booths.

The booths were separated based on several qualities and factors.

Slayer Specialities

Physical strength, Agility and stamina

Slayer potential

Physical Strength potential, Mental strength potential, Physical Mana resistance, Soul strength.

Slayer utility

Healing abilities for healer, scouting abilities for scouts, Damage control abilities for Tanks…and so much more.

These tests were aimed at creating the most powerful teams with well rounded abilities. Inside the gate, there was little to no help, they had to have everything in a well rounded fashion.

Especially since they had no idea what they were getting themselves into.

"Hmmm, I think Phyical Strength should cover it" Guiliman mused while slowly stroking his chin.

In all honesty, he had the ability to pass several of these tests without any trouble. His scouting abilities with the use of ghost was phenomenal, agility? He just need to use his rabbit braces and fly over the grand hall and he would immediately be let in.

The only things he felt he might fail would be potential since his potential from the get go was extremely low.

However, he had to made a decision that wouldn't draw a lot of attention to him. After all, the blackberry family was still out to get him.

"Physical Strength it is" Guilliman nodded walking toward a booth with a massive bell hanging next to it.

There, a well built young man could been standing infront without a shirt on. He looked feirce, energy pulsing through his body.

This was clearly a strength based Slayer, but unlike Barthold he focused more on attack power than defense. Pulling his hand back he let out a roar.

-peng

His fist connected with the massive bell causing it to slowly go back as the bell rang the first time, the following seconds after it rang again then turned blue.

"Not bad, Strength capped at the peak of blue, that's a new record" the man standing behind the booth smiled, actually, this kid was really talented, from what he knew he had become a Slayer about a year ago. To reach level 4 in that time was definitely spectacular.

Of course, this did not mean he would necessarily survive the gate.

"You may go in" the man nodded, he was solely responsible for who could go in and who could not.
