Stanley stared at the couple through the car's window, his lips twitching at the sight of their smiling faces. He couldn't suppress a sneer at the idea of Sean abandoning him at this moment, asking him to take Lilac home now that Damien had to leave for some work.
"You sly mice, how could you betray me like that?" Stanley muttered under his breath, his gaze darting away in annoyance.
Soon, Lilac joined him and turned to fasten her seatbelt. "I apologize for bothering you, but you know Damien wouldn't leave me if it weren't urgent," she said, smiling at Stanley, who continued to ignore her.
Her smile wavered at his silence, and before long, he started the car, taking them away from the cafe.
"So, what are your thoughts on Damien?" Lilac said, breaking the overbearing silence inside the car.
Lilac stared at Stanley, who appeared unfazed, yet she observed his fingers clenching the steering wheel firmly.
