"First, promise me you won't react right away," she asked cautiously, her voice steady despite the tension crackling between them.
Kalix's jaw tightened, his eyes dark with fury. "Depends on who it is," he gritted out, his tone leaving no room for negotiation.
Winter swallowed hard. His response only made her pulse quicken, the pressure in her chest mounting.
"Fine. If you won't tell me, I'll find out myself," Kalix said, his voice low and lethal.
Winter's eyes widened in shock. The second he reached for his phone, panic surged through her, and she blurted out, "It's Eric. He tried to block my way."
