Chereads / My Boss is My Secret Husband / Chapter 13 - chapter 13

Chapter 13 - chapter 13

I stood awkwardly in front of the bed, not knowing what to do. Noah looked up from his document, puzzled. "Lyla, why are you standing like that?" He asked.

I played with the hem of my skirt, not knowing how to respond.

"Get on the bed. It's getting late, and you will get cold," he continued, and his words made my heart race. We are going to share a bed? Just the thought made me feel hot. With slow, deliberate steps, I walked toward the bed and sat on the edge. Noah looked at my actions, and a smirk formed on his lips.

"Are you afraid of sleeping with me on the same bed?" His sudden question caught me off guard, and I nearly fell off the bed. Stupid Noah, I scream in my mind.

How did he know? Am I that obvious? I thought before hurriedly defending myself.

"No, no, it's just... I never shared my bed with... you know, another person, so it's something new to me."

He laughed at my words before replying. "Well, it's also my first time being this close to someone, but I'm not freaking out like it's my do-or-die mission."

My face turned red because of his words and, of course, his teasing. Sometimes I really feel he is an imposter, how can I have to different personality.

A cold and ruthless for whole world and teasing and annoying for...me.

"But if you're that uncomfortable, don't push yourself. I can sleep on the couch, or I have a study here; I can go there too," he suggested. His words surprised me, jokes aside he is really considerate, but after thinking for a while, I replied, "No, it's alright. I think I will get used to it."

Well, we are husband and wife in the first place. Maybe these little things would be the start of accepting this relationship for both of us. We are miss tow years of our marriage, now maybe it's time to adjust ourselves in this new relationship.

I slowly started lifting the blanket over me and tried to minimize my restlessness. It was still early, and I couldn't sleep at this moment. I took out my phone and started going through my social media. Noah was dominating all the news and blog articles.

Noah Anderson is back with huge success in other countries; now the young CEO has decided to come back...

Noah Anderson is back, ladies keep your heart calm, here are some airport pics of noah Anderson....

My eyes fell on the headline of the first trending article. I looked toward the very person written about in this and saw him intently looking at the documents in his hands. His seriousness had a unique charm. Well, given the fact Noah has been the golden bachelor of the country before he married me, his popularity is justified.

Sometimes, I always think: why this man, who could have any woman, chose me as his life partner. I know my family has money and a deep background, but there are many families more powerful than ours, and there are many successful women who openly expressed their love toward Noah.

Maybe, for him, it doesn't matter whom he marries. He doesn't need any support from his partner's family to become successful, so marrying me or anyone with a successful career is the same to him. Yeah, that is more likely to be reason.

I was scrolling mindlessly when my phone flashed with Rose's name.

"Hey Lyla, how are you?" her voice came as I picked up the call, Looking at the clock in our room subconsciously.

"Fine. Is everything alright?" I asked, since the incident of the song theft had made me cautious when she called this late.

"Everything is fine. Just wanted to remind you, tomorrow we have to submit the prerecording of your song, so be on time."

"Oh yes, it slipped my mind. Thanks for reminding me; I will come on time, don't worry," I replied in a grateful tone.

"And if possible, we should submit the MV concept too for your song, just to be on the safe side," she suggested.

"I was also thinking the same. Well, let me think about what will go with the theme of the song."

"Alright then. Sleep earlier," she said before hanging up.

I turned towards Noah, only to find him looking at me with curious eyes.

"My agent, Rose. She was calling," I spoke subconsciously.

"It's quite late for her to call you. Is everything alright?" he asked with concern.

"Yeah, everything is good. I have to submit my recording tomorrow; she just wanted to remind me," I said, not wanting to make him worry.

"If you need anything, inform me. I will handle everything for you," he said, looking serious.

"Alright, I will remember it," I replied and put my phone on the nightstand before lying down to sleep.

Pulling the blanket over my head, my lips turned upwards in a smile. I don't know why I felt happy just listening to his words, but something about the way he assured me was really comforting.

"Lyla, don't suffocate yourself like this. Get your head out."

Noah's words made my smile fall. How dominating, I thought, but decided to agree. I slowly lifted the blanket from my face and saw him just inches away from me. My eyes widened. What the heck is he doing?

I grabbed the blanket with both hands while maintaining eye contact with him. He came a little closer, and my heart started beating fast. Suddenly, the lights in the room went out, and the lamp on the table illuminated him in a warm, dim glow.

Stupid Lyla, he was just turning off the lights.

My face turned red because of my foolishness. He laughed softly and returned to his side of the bed.

"Good night, Lyla," he said and lay down.
