The rain was pattering softly, and the sky was overcast.

Chen Feng stood by the asphalt road, watching as the taxi behind him drove off.

Buzz!

[Chen Yun: Have you arrived, Xiao Feng? Why did you suddenly come to the research institute to pick me up?]

[It's raining, do you have an umbrella?]

The phone vibrated continuously as Chen Feng saw the research institute building ahead.

It was an old below with tiled walls, and a new building with floor-to-ceiling windows rising above it.

The grass was neat, and the trees were lush.

A metal iron gate stood before him, with a security booth inside where a uniformed guard was watching the surveillance monitors.

Tap, tap!

Soon, footsteps were heard.

A well-dressed young woman quickly walked out from inside. Only then did he notice a luxurious car parked at the roadside.

A man dressed like a driver quickly approached with an umbrella, escorting her away. Chen Feng stood by, brushing past them.

"Why are you in such a hurry to pick me up?"

"Miss, this is the president's arrangement."

"Don't use my dad to pressure me..."

Their conversation was soft, the young woman seeming somewhat impatient.

Chen Feng didn't use an umbrella; his hair gradually got wet in the rain. His black short-sleeve shirt, still soaked with sweat from practice, clung to his body.

They exchanged glances, and the young woman, with a look of disdain, got into the car, seemingly looking at him like he was an idiot.

Buzz!

The car drove away, and Chen Feng squinted.

He quickly looked away and picked up his phone, intending to ask Chen Yun to come out so they could leave together.

But...

He sensed something wrong.

He suddenly noticed a familiar aura lingering in a nearby alley to his right.

Turning his head, he saw the front of a black car.

Inside, two people sat. Through the dark tinted windows, Chen Feng could feel they were watching him.

An inexplicable sense of malice resurfaced.

It was so familiar, so unforgettable.

With the pattering rain soaking his clothes, Chen Feng with an unreadable face finally walked towards them.

...

"Why isn't Chen Yun out yet? Damn, my legs are almost numb from waiting."

"Should be soon."

"By the way, did Brother Qiang find someone to take the fall? I don't want to end up in a cell."

"Got it, don't worry."

"Alright, hit the accelerator hard when you go. Don't screw up."

The black car stopped at the entrance of the alley, perfectly out of sight from the surveillance cameras.

A supermarket stood a few meters to the left, and a fruit stall to the right was closed for the day.

The two inside the car chatted casually, occasionally lighting a cigarette.

"Hey, did you see? The lady's been picked up."

"Yeah."

"Hmm... hmm? Wait, look, the guy who just got out of the taxi looks familiar."

The fat man in the passenger seat suddenly said. There was a streak of water on the car window, making the view unclear.

"Looks like... Chen Yun's brother?"

The tall man behind the wheel frowned, wiped the rainwater off the windshield, as a figure resurfaced in his memory.

They exchanged a glance, and their expressions froze.

The young man in black was walking through the rain toward them.

With a wary look, they saw him walking quickly, soon passing in front of the car and heading into the nearby supermarket.

"Ha, scared me! I almost thought we were exposed."

The fat man cursed, stopping his hand, which had reached for his gun.

"It's not that easy to notice us. That kid probably doesn't know yet, but his sister is about to die."

"Such a pity. It'd be better if we could have some fun before taking her out."

The tall man mocked, showing a cruel smile.

The fat man's expression mirrored the sentiment. He turned his head back toward the research institute's entrance and quickly brightened.

"Here she comes!"

The girl in a white short-sleeve shirt was dragging a suitcase as she walked out. Upon hearing this, the tall man's face changed, and he immediately started the engine, preparing to step on the gas.

The next second.

Boom!!!

The car window was shattered by a punch, and glass fragments flew everywhere.

A large hand reached through from the outside, grabbing his head and hair, slamming it repeatedly into the steering wheel.

Bang, bang, bang!!!

Blood splattered as the horn blared incessantly.

"Damn it!"

The fat man's face in the passenger seat changed slightly. He quickly pulled out his gun, aiming at the assailant.

But, as if sensing something, the figure outside suddenly vanished.

The fat man froze for a second.

When he looked again, the tall man's head was slumped, his face lying on the steering wheel, blood flowing, breath weak.

His heart trembled as he looked around, preparing to fight back desperately.

Boom!!

The car window next to him suddenly exploded, and a muscular arm, as strong as a cement pillar, violently struck him.

Before he could pull the trigger, the fat man felt as if his head was hit by a hammer. His eyes bleeding, and he died on the spot lying limply.

Crack!

The car door was pulled open.

Chen Feng, his hair dripping wet, stood motionless, his expression blank, his clothes soaked through.

He silently stood there for two seconds.

Buzz!

Buzz!

His phone vibrated. He stepped forward and searched the fat man's body for a moment.

[Brother Qiang]

The name flashed on the fat man's phone. Chen Feng didn't hesitate and tapped to answer.

"Hello? Fatty, is Chen Yun's matter settled?"

The voice sounded around 27 or 28 years old. Chen Feng stood there, silent.

"Hello? Fatty?"

"Hello?"

He asked several times but got no response.

The other side was silent for two seconds.

"You're not Fatty. Who are you?"

Beep!

Chen Feng hung up the phone, his eyes now completely cold.

He shut the car door, walked over to the driver's seat, unbuckled the seatbelt, and threw the tall man's body into the back seat.

A sense of irritation rose within him, his blood feeling like it was boiling hotter and hotter.

He only wanted to focus on martial arts, to pursue that mysterious transcendence.

But why... why do they force me?

Taking a deep breath, Chen Feng sat in the driver's seat, his gaze flickering. He stayed silent for several seconds.

Finally, when his phone vibrated again, he made up his mind.

[Chen Yun: Xiao Feng, I'm at the research institute's entrance. Have you arrived?]

"Wait for me in the dorm for an hour."

After sending the message, Chen Feng put his phone away and gripped the steering wheel tightly.

He stepped on the gas, and with a loud roar, the car sped away. In the blink of an eye, he was gone.

...

"Strange."

Standing at the research institute's entrance with an umbrella, Chen Yun turned her head to look at the alley to the left.

The black car honked a few times, but soon fell silent.

Her phone vibrated, and she saw the message Chen Feng had sent.

Though surprised, she didn't ask further, quickly replying:

"Be safe, and don't rush."

"I'll wait for you."

Once the message was sent, she turned her head back to find the black car had already left, disappearing down the street.

...

"Who are you?"

In a high-rise building with floor-to-ceiling windows, a young man in a black suit, looking like an elite, stood in the corridor, holding his phone with a grim expression.

Beep!

Once again, silence answered. The beep from the hung-up call made him feel something was wrong.

This had been a foolproof plan. Could something have gone wrong?

He stood silently for several seconds, then quickly turned and knocked on the office door behind him.

Knock, knock!

"Come in."

A calm voice came from inside. The young man, though anxious, gently opened the wooden door.

Inside, a middle-aged man in a dark shirt sat on a leather sofa in the empty room.

On a pearwood table in the center, a woman in a cheongsam was kneeling, serving tea.

"President."

"Speak," Gao Tian Heng said, not looking up, as he took the tea from the cheongsam woman.

A faint aroma of tea lingered. The young man hesitated for a moment before saying, "Something went wrong."

"Fatty's phone was answered by someone else."

Gao Tian Heng paused, then looked up at him.

"Who was it?"

"I don't know, no one spoke."

The young man briefly explained the situation, not daring to hide anything.

Gao Tian Heng fell silent. The only sound in the office was the quiet sipping of tea.

"Call Ah Biao and the others back."

The young man was startled. He hadn't expected that for dealing with such an unknown, they would have to call in Ah Biao and his group.

Before he could recover from his surprise, Gao Tian Heng lifted his eyes again:

"Has Xiao Xue been brought back?"

"She's on her way, almost downstairs."

"Mm."

He nodded slightly, his expression finally relaxing a bit, before returning to his calm, composed demeanor.

"Make arrangements. Let her stay at the company tonight."

"No matter if you're dealing with an ant or an elephant, it's best to be cautious."
