I stood before Ryker and all the warriors that had gathered, I felt the weight of this new responsibility rest upon my shoulders. Being placed in charge of the pack's defenses was an honor. Isabella frowned at it, but who was she to speak when the alpha had spoken?
She bit her lips, muttering something inaudible. I only saw her mouth move; maybe she was cursing me. Though it was an honor to be placed in charge of the pack's defenses, it also came with immense pressure.
Many wolves still saw me as an outsider, a stranger who had come to disrupt their peaceful lives. I could sense their hesitation and Their unspoken doubts lingering in the tense air around me.
But I refused to let it bother me. Instead, it motivated my determination to prove that I belonged not just as Ryker's ally but as someone very important in their survival too.
