Chapter 76 - Chapter 76: Is It A New Beginning? VI

Kathrine stepped onto the law school campus, a bright smile on her face.

The air was no longer as cold as it was before.

This was a law school. Everyone studying here would be working with the laws of the country, so the chatter was all about the laws. She smiled, listening to this seemingly loud chatter.

It felt appealing to her, who had been here for weeks now. Matching this morning was the scent of freshly brewed coffee from a nearby café, making the morning feel even better.

She took a deep breath and sighed contentedly. Despite the heavy workload, she found herself enjoying every single day.

Studying law wasn't easy, but that was what made it exciting. Every class brought something new to learn, and every case she read made her more curious about how the legal world worked.

As someone born into a family of lawyers and prosecutors, she had long fallen in love with this line of work. And when she started becoming friends with Beatrice, she became even more adamant that she would become a top-notch lawyer who could protect those precious to her.

Well, on the premise that they abide by the law as well. How could she call herself their friend if she condoned their wrongdoings?

Her first class of the day was Legal Theory and Philosophy. She arrived early, taking her usual seat in the middle of the lecture hall. Around her, students were talking—some reviewing notes, others discussing past cases. She listened in for a moment before opening her notebook.

The professor entered right on time, as always.

"Good morning, everyone. Today, we'll discuss how different legal philosophies shape modern law," he began, adjusting his glasses.

Kathrine sat up a little straighter, already eager to take notes. The lecture moved quickly, touching on different theories, and she found herself completely absorbed. She loved how law wasn't just about rules—it was about understanding society, justice, and how different perspectives shaped the world.

Some students raised their hands to ask questions, and Kathrine listened carefully. While she was someone who tended to speak her mind, this time, she felt like listening to everything for now.

To listen to what her classmates thought and how her instructor would respond. Every debate helped her see things from another angle, making her think deeper about the subject.

After class, she headed to the library.

It had become her favorite place on campus, a quiet sanctuary where she could dive into her readings.

This occurred when she started studying in the library back in high school. The silence was something she came to enjoy as more and more words poured into her head.

She picked out a few books on Contract Law and found a seat by the window.

Flipping through a thick casebook, she jotted down notes, completely focused. The legal terms were complex, but instead of feeling frustrated, she enjoyed the challenge. She loved the way cases unraveled like stories—each one had its own history, arguments, and consequences.

A couple of hours passed before she realized she was hungry. Packing up her books, she made her way to the small café near campus. The place was busy with students, but she managed to find an empty table by the window.

As she unwrapped her sandwich, she heard a familiar voice.

"Kathrine! Mind if I sit?"

She looked up to see Mia, one of her classmates. They had met during orientation and often ended up in the same study groups.

"Sure," Kathrine replied, sipping her tea.

Mia set down her tray with a sigh, "I swear, my brain is going to explode from all the reading."

Kathrine chuckled, "I think it gets more interesting the more you read."

Mia groaned, "How are you enjoying this? Most of us are barely surviving!"

Kathrine shrugged, "I guess I just like the challenge. It's like solving a puzzle. The more pieces you put together, the clearer everything becomes."

Mia stared at her for a second before laughing, "You're definitely in the right place."

They spent the next few minutes talking about their classes, professors, and the cases they had been assigned. Kathrine found it refreshing to share thoughts with someone who understood the workload.

After finishing her meal, she checked the time. Her next class, Criminal Law, was in twenty minutes.

"I should go," she said, grabbing her bag.

Mia waved her off, "Have fun enjoying law school."

Kathrine smiled, "I will."

As she walked back to class, she thought about how much she loved what she was doing. Law school was difficult, but every challenge only made her more excited to learn.

She wasn't just studying law—she was living it, and she wouldn't trade it for anything.

'Seriously, this is the starting point I thought back in the past, but now I realize it is not.'

She had long started this journey, and she was already in the middle of it.

'I'll devour everything I can from all of this and graduate early,' she pumped herself up.

As she walked past a window and the sunlight brushed her skin, she looked outside to see the scenery of trees. Winter was over, and the sun had started warming up more.

'Ah, how about playing some instrument as a means of relaxation?'

To be honest, she could not forget the orchestra she watched with Elson—not only because of who she was with but because of how she was pulled into their performance.

'Yeah, I suppose I could try learning one.'
