Chapter 31 - CHAPTER 29

I was absolutely knackered by the time we got back to the safe house. I felt like my body had gone through a truck, and my head was cloudy. I barely made it into the room before I collapsed onto the bed, closing my eyes almost immediately.

I awoke in a half-lit room, the clear hum of the city outside being the only sound. My head was pounding, my body heavy like I'd been sleeping for days. I sat up painfully, trying to fit together the pieces of what must have gone down in the interim.

The last thing I remembered was all the chaos at the hotel: gunfire, yelling, fear. Then … nothing.

I swung my legs over the side of the bed, my feet hitting the cold floor. My body ached, but I forced myself to stand, my mind racing. I needed to find Frank and Luke. I needed to know what was going on.
