Ruth Lee's POV

I'm not the kind of person who'd ever describe herself as reckless. Calculated risks? Sure, I've taken my fair share. But this? Handing over my father's credit card to Frank Xia, a man who more than likely had seen more shady dealings in his life than I could ever dream of, definitely felt like toeing the line between bold and outright foolish.

Frank sat opposite me, his eyes riveted on the chessboard glowing on the computer screen. He looked up once, his eyebrows furrowing. "You sure about this, Ruth? I mean, really sure?" His tone wasn't accusatory, but it carried sufficient weight to have me shifting in my seat.

I crossed my arms. "It's mine now, isn't it? Dad's not around to stop me, and I've got every right to know what's on that card."

Frank cocked his head slightly, a look of not being convinced. "You know, just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.
