Chapter 71 - "The Power of Systemic Reforging"

Rat Calendar, Year 2026

6th Day of March

The Inner City of Nova Asta

Winchester Family Household

After the celebration last night and the announcement that Accel's father's business had gone bankrupt for unknown reasons, the family began discussing how he could become an adventurer despite having a businessman system. When Accel looked at his father's system stats, he was surprised to see that he had a significant amount of points in Dexterity and Charisma. His father had never considered himself a fighter; instead, he specialized in commanding groups of people during his early days as an adventurer, which coincided with the founding of the City of Nova Asta.

Regarding the unusual notification from Accel's Archivist System, it was similar to previous instances when he could change different basic system types. This time, however, it introduced a new ability that would change everything. Although Accel believed this ability was common for Archivists to possess, in reality, it was anything but normal. This made Accel's Archivist System unique compared to ordinary Archivist Systems. Unfortunately, Accel didn't recognize this distinction; he thought it was merely a typical occurrence.

The Neural Command Skill provided by the Archivist System is called "Systemic Reforging." This skill operates by accessing the fundamental informational code that forms the basis of an individual's System. Essentially, the Archivist System "reads" the target's System as raw data, enabling it to identify and manipulate its core parameters. This process is not as simple as merely overwriting data; it involves a complex restructuring of the target's energetic and informational signature. The Archivist System analyzes the desired System and then reconstructs the target's System to align with that desired template.

The Archivist System creates a temporary "nexus" between its own database and the target's System, allowing for the transfer and manipulation of data. This nexus is inherently unstable, which contributes to the high cost. The ability has varying levels of access:

Minor Edits: Changing a single skill, or stat.

Major Edits: Changing the entire system type.

Complete Reforging: Fully changing the system, and the users skills, and even sometimes personality traits.

How it Works:

Initiation: The Archivist must first establish a direct connection with the target, often through physical contact or a strong mental link.

System Analysis: The Archivist System then performs a deep scan of the target's System, mapping its structure, abilities, and limitations.

Data Manipulation: The Archivist can then alter the System's code, changing its parameters, adding or removing abilities, or even replacing it with a completely different System template.

Systemic Integration: The edited System is then reintegrated into the target's being, with the Archivist System ensuring a stable transition.

Limitations:

The Archivist System may not be able to create entirely new Systems from scratch. It primarily works by modifying existing templates.

The complexity of the edit directly affects the cost. Major edits require significantly more energy and carry greater risks.

The Archivist must have a very deep understanding of the system they are trying to change.

Cost of Use:

System Lockout: Each use of "Systemic Reforging" triggers a temporary lockout of the Archivist System. The first use results in a 1-hour lockout, during which the Archivist cannot access any of their System's functions. Subsequent uses increase the lockout duration exponentially.

Accel was surprised by the ability granted to him by the Archivist System. With this new power, he could transform his father's businessman system into something entirely different. When Accel explained this ability to his parents and siblings, they found it hard to believe. They acknowledged his talents, but questioned why the Archivist System, despite its unique capabilities, is often regarded as one of the weakest systems. They theorized that perhaps their world favors systems that are primarily combat-oriented or strong support-oriented.

They overlooked the reasons why the Archivist System is considered the weakest system in today's world. What they don't realize is that Accel's Archivist System is unusual because, according to historical records on System Types, no other Archivist System has ever been able to do what it does. However, Accel himself is unaware of this, as he hasn't conducted extensive research on the systems. After explaining to his parents and siblings, Accel begins using the neural command skill "Systemic Reforging."

The first step involved initiating a connection between Accel's Archivist System and his father's Businessman System, with his father's permission. Once this connection was established, Accel moved on to the System Analysis phase. He realized that he needed to transform his father's existing system into something more suitable, as he preferred a rear-support approach. To do this, he utilized his Archive Collection to identify attributes that would fit the current system.

The Archive Collection recommended the Inspirational Leader System. This system is designed to boost morale, instill unwavering loyalty, and lead by example, motivating members to perform beyond their limits. After that came the data manipulation, which took a toll on Accel. His father urged him to stop the Systemic Reforging, but Accel insisted he was fine and continued with it. The data manipulation began altering all of his father's neural commands and the auto-adaptation meant for the Inspirational Leader System.

The last phase was systemic integration, the final step for making permanent changes to the system. Unlike the data manipulation phase, this time Accel didn't suffer any consequences; however, an error occurred because changing the system violated the Law of the System Class. Fortunately, this issue was quickly resolved for unknown reasons. As a result, Accel's system was locked, preventing him from using his abilities and stats for one hour. Due to this system lockout, Accel collapsed and fainted on the floor, leaving everyone in shock. They took me to a room to rest, but I had already completed my task of changing my father's system, unaware that Accel's system is not an ordinary Archivist System. In the future, he may still not realize this.
