Chereads / second male lead: "you are mine" / Chapter 9 - Apocalypse 08: Greedy

Chapter 9 - Apocalypse 08: Greedy

After sometime she noticed that something was not right ?!

W-what was it?!

Why was she not happy at the end?!?

Why did Feng Liang started to regret leaving ah Lisha for her?!

Was it because of the many men she had under her skirt ?!

It can't be that right ?!

She was pretty, talented, beautiful and whatnot?!

She was everything a men desire ?!

It's not her fault that they fall for her ?!! Even if some were forced by the plot but still it's not her fault !? Right ?!

she can't lose to a lowly Cannon fodder !!!

She was the female lead she deverses every happiness every ounce of it ,men.... were just a way to that happiness so why ....why she was not happy in the end?!

...her excitement began to waver. The images in her dream shifted, showing her five male leads—heroes from the story's plot—sacrificing themselves one by one.

Suddenly, the dream blurred, and Bei Mei Lian felt a cold chill in her spine. The scene shifted again, showing a dark version of herself—one consumed by power and a desire for control, someone who could make the world bend to her will.

As Bei Mei Lian's unconscious mind continued to delve deeper into the hazy dreamscape, the vision of the five second male leads became sharper, each one a brilliant but tragic figure in her mind. Their sacrifices had been noble, heroic even. They had fallen, one by one, as if their lives were mere stepping stones in the grand narrative of her story. But there was one death that weighed on her heart more than the rest—the death of the second male lead who had loved her unconditionally, whose loyalty was unwavering even as the world around them crumbled. His name lingered in her mind like a bitter echo.

In her dream, she had watched him die. It wasn't a heroic sacrifice. He had been caught off guard, taken by surprise, his life extinguished by a mere twist of fate. The betrayal in his eyes, the hurt, as he had seen her choose another—someone stronger, someone more suited to the plot—was something Bei Mei Lian couldn't shake. The male lead, Feng Liang, had always been by her side, always the one who would pull her from the brink of despair, but even his love couldn't erase the guilt she felt for the second male lead's death. Her decision to ignore him, to pass him over for someone more "necessary" to the plot, had cost him his life. And she regretted it.

But as the images shifted, the haunting realization grew. **She didn't regret Ah Lisha's death.** There had been something in Ah Lisha's indifference that had always rubbed her the wrong way. Ah Lisha was strong, clever, and enigmatic, but she was also a constant reminder of how little Bei Mei Lian cared for anyone who wasn't directly part of her journey. Ah Lisha had been the one person who hadn't bent the knee to her role in the story, the one who had ignored her when she expected attention, and that had hurt. In her subconscious, Ah Lisha became little more than a background character who had been snuffed out by the zombie apocalypse—a casualty of a larger game, and one that didn't matter.

As the dream continued, Bei Mei Lian found herself yearning for more. More power. More attention. More love. She wasn't content with just one male lead by her side. Why should she be? After all, she was the heroine. The world was supposed to bend to her desires, wasn't it?

In the dream, she was surrounded by the five second male leads, all of them vying for her attention, their eyes filled with devotion. She smiled at them, enjoying their worship, their adoration. But as she looked at Feng Liang, she could feel the pull of something else, something darker. He had always been by her side, her rock. But what if he wasn't enough? What if she could have it all—the love of the hero, the power of the second leads, the adoration of everyone who looked her way?

The thought of one man alone was no longer enough. She wanted more. More men at her feet. More control. More adoration.

**She wasn't content with being the heroine; she wanted to be the center of everything.**

But deep down, a small part of her recognized the dangerous path she was treading. She could already feel the cracks forming in her relationship with Feng Liang. He was too loyal, too trusting. He believed in her, believed she was the one he would protect, the one he would die for. But Bei Mei Lian wasn't sure she was willing to do the same for him.

As the dream faded, the scene shifted once more, and she stood before Feng Liang, his eyes filled with longing, filled with trust.

"I would do anything for you, Bei Mei Lian,"

he said, his voice soft, full of devotion.

She smiled at him, but it wasn't a smile of affection—it was the smile of someone who knew she could have anything she wanted. And right now, she wanted more than just him.

**Feng Liang had always been by her side, but she couldn't stop herself from wanting more.**

In the waking world, Bei Mei Lian's eyes fluttered open, and the world around her was no longer the dream she had been in. But the feeling of longing, the desire for more, lingered in her heart like a seed that had just begun to sprout.

---

As the days passed, the tension between Bei Mei Lian and Feng Liang grew. He continued to care for her, to protect her, to be by her side as the world around them descended into chaos. But she no longer felt the same. She was distracted, her thoughts drifting towards the second male leads and other men , and even toward the new characters she had met recently. She found herself flirting with them, basking in the attention they gave her, and soon enough, she was sneaking away from Feng Liang's watchful eye to spend time with them.

At first, she told herself it was nothing. She was just enjoying the attention. But then, one day, when Feng Liang found her alone with one of the character , his face twisted with hurt, his voice shaky with betrayal.

"Bei Mei Lian," he said softly, his eyes filled with pain. "How could you do this to me? After everything… after all I've done for you?"

Her heart wavered, but only for a moment. She knew she had gone too far, but at the same time, she couldn't stop herself. She was the heroine, after all. She deserved everything, didn't she?

But Feng Liang wasn't the kind of person who could forgive betrayal so easily.

With a heart heavy with sorrow and anger, he made his decision. As the day came to a close, and Bei Mei Lian was once again caught between her various suitors, he approached her with a coldness in his eyes that she had never seen before.

"Feng Liang…?" she asked, her voice trembling, unsure of what was coming.

Without a word, he drew his weapon, a swift motion that left no time for her to react. She gasped, her hand going to her chest where the cold steel had pierced her heart.

"You were never the person I thought you were,"

he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

And with that, the story of Bei Mei Lian, the heroine who wanted everything, came to a tragic end. Feng Liang, the one man who had been by her side through it all, the one man who had loved her with all his heart, was the one who ended her life—not because he was heartless, but because he realized that love should never be built on betrayal.

In the end, Bei Mei Lian had learned the hard way that in a story, the protagonist could be the one to destroy herself, chasing after what she could never truly have.

Back in the real world, as Feng Liang returned with the medicine, Bei Mei Lian's breathing became erratic, her eyelids twitching as though she were fighting something within herself. Feng Liang, ever the protector, rushed to her side, brushing her hair back once again. His face was etched with concern, but also a hint of helplessness. He didn't know what was happening to her, nor did he understand the weight of the strange dream she was having.

Meanwhile, outside in the hallway, Shao Shen, Han Rao, and Jun Jie were having a quiet discussion about the current situation. Shao Shen's mind kept wandering back to the odd interaction between him and Ah Lisha earlier, particularly the strange tension. He couldn't shake the feeling that things were unfolding in ways he didn't fully understand.

As the group stood in the hallway, the tension in the air grew thicker. Everyone had their own suspicions, their own thoughts about what was really happening, but none of them could fully grasp the true complexity of the situation.

Inside the doctor's office, Bei Mei Lian stirred in her sleep, her hand twitching as though she were reaching out for something—or someone. Her dream had shifted again, and this time, it was no longer just about her fate. It was about something deeper. Something that tied her existence, her choices, and those around her, into a dangerous web that she had yet to fully comprehend.

But she would soon learn that in this world, nothing was as simple as it seemed. And the lines between the protagonist and antagonist were far from clear.

In this life she decided to win without causing harm to herself and getting everything that belongs to her ...
