Simon blinked for a few moments before tilting his head.
"A… goddess... Told you?"
He would laugh at that moment, but the woman just yelled out his actual Name and blasted people across several walls.
Well, the latter part is not as impressive, Magick could literally control the fate and destiny of all things so blasting people seemed reasonable.
Helen nodded vigorously, still with a wide grin on her face. "Yes! When I transmigrated over here from my mundane life, I was greeted with a white light and a voice that spoke out to me."
She remembered it like it was yesterday ,even though it was a few minutes ago.
The young lady was minding her own business, walking down the street towards her job, when suddenly everything turned white, and a voice echoed all throughout her mind.
"It said to me that I was a very important girl, gifted with secret immense Magick powers! It then told me that, sadly, I can't contain all these Magick powers at once from the start, but I will have a vassal that would help me control and maintain these powers."
Helen then pointed a finger at Simon once more. "And it showed me you, Simon Magus!"
Simon looked around, his eyebrows furrowed before giving a sigh of relief once he saw nobody was there. "Don't say it aloud, please… I've been trying to keep that Name hidden for years."
Her eyes sparkled as she got closer to Simon. "O,h oh! Is it a hidden backstory? A secret symbol! Ahhh, are you the heir of a mysterious power!"
"…I don't think I'm exactly required to tell." He crossed his arms and looked away.
"Oh come on! Look, not only will you be my vassal, but you will share in my power! And awaken some of your own or something, but come on! Wouldn't that be cool!"
Helen grabbed Simon's hand, pleading with him like she was some kind of puppy.
"I'll share in your power? Really?" The thought of doing what she did to those thugs made his body feel so invigorated.
"Yup! That's what they said anyways. We share in the energy to use it while you help me gain power. How does that sound?"
Simon thought of it for a few moments. It sounded not so bad, really. I mean, he technically now had a bodyguard, and he'd gain power for himself as well.
There wasn't really anything to lose in this kind of deal, which is why he was heavily suspicious.
"Did it say why me? And how were you going to get your powers?"
"Well, I don't know why you at all. But I'm sure it's because you're very special. Which is why I'm asking you why you're trying to hide your Name. Maybe that's why."
She then sat down beside him, leaning against the wall.
"As for how I'll get my powers? Well, apparently, a bunch of objects out there hold vestiges of my power, and I can absorb their strength to build up my own. I think there are… ten out there? Each one corresponds to the Sefirot of the Tree of Life!"
Simon blinked, tilting his head even more. "Uhm… okay then, so just ten objects and each one would be able to grant you immense power that I can draw on, is that right?"
Helen nods approvingly, giving him a thumbs up. "Yup! And one of them is said to be in this city so we better get to work soon! But first~ tell me, please~ What makes you so important! What's your secret~.'
She shook him as he sighed and held her shoulders, staring directly into her eyes. He took a deep breath and spoke.
"I have no idea."
For a few moments, the duo just stared at each other with the winter wind passing through the alleyway.
"Heh?" Helen is the one to tilt her head in confusion this time.
"What do you mean, you have no idea? Come on, don't you have anything like an ancient locket? Or a ring passed down from your elders? Oh oh how about your wand, was it from an ancient god?"
"…Yeah, no to any of those. I don't know why I was chosen at all for something like this. I would say that your mysterious benefactor made a mistake but she mentioned me by Name and sent you here so… I'm not so sure."
Helen just sighed and rolled her eyes, groaning for a few moments.
However, in this stupor, her eyes lit up. "Oh! Maybe ,maybe, I'm going to unlock your lineage! How awesome is that!"
She shook him around which, finally getting somewhat annoyed, he put a stop to by holding her head in place.
"Well, I wouldn't say no to that at all. I'm just still trying to figure out how this works."
Simon stood up and looked at his suitcase. "And I still need to get this delivered so that I can get paid."
"Oh, well, sure thing, come on then, I'll be your perfect guard. No one is ever going to mess with you while I'm around!"
Helen stood up, cracked her knuckles, and laughed as her hair flared up a little bit before dying down. She then doubled over for a bit, clutching her head.
"Ugh, is it already kicking in?"
She jumped up and down for a little bit as if trying to get herself energized before she clenched her fists and powered up once more, her black hair turning a bright gold as her eyes started to glisten.
Simon stared at Helen with awe for a few moments, admiring the power she was showcasing. Yet, it began to die down, fading away as her hair turned black.
"…So uh hmm, okay, guess that's it for today…"
She stretched her hands and leaned on Simon, who began to blink excessively.
"Wait, what do you mean that's it for today?"
"Oh, well, apparently, I can't stay powered for more than a few minutes at a time in a day."
