Rebecca's fingers halted just above Karl's thigh, her eyes still locked onto him, her playful smirk unwavering.
Then—her gaze flicked toward his ears.
She blinked.
"…Wait a second," she murmured, tilting her head slightly. "Karl… are you even listening to music?"
Karl's already-fried brain needed a full three seconds to process her words.
Then another three seconds to realize—
His earphones?
They weren't even playing anything.

He had put them in purely out of habit.
Rebecca raised an eyebrow, intrigued, then let out a soft chuckle.
"I knew it," she said, straightening up, her fingers retreating from his leg. "You're just wearing them to avoid people, aren't you?"
Karl opened his mouth.
Closed it.
Rebecca gave him a knowing smirk. "C'mon, admit it. You're the type that puts on earphones with nothing playing just to make sure no one talks to you."
