I stood there in the forest. My calloused hand resting on the bark of an ancient redwood tree. Eyes scanning the foggy forest that lay ahead of me as ferns brush against my legs. My wings softly flutter away the accumulating droplets before I take in a breath of the cold, damp morning air. Placing a foot infront of another, I dragged my body forward listening out to the calls of the birds. This will be a long way home. I thought as the movment began to warm my body, removing the numbing of my limbs, replacing the numb with agonizing exhaustion and burning pain. The leaves crunch under my bare feet as I begin to pick up the pace not wanting to spend a moment longer in this god forsaken land. My eyes feel heavy as it's been what, hours? Days? Can one even tell how long it's been?
I'm in this situation because of humans and their stupid fake god they worship. I hiss as a simple bush grazed my wounded arm causing the barely formed scab to make way and allow me to bleed once more. My breathing goes heavy as I turn my walk into a trot and a trot into a run. My legs extending and propelling my body. I couldn't last longer than five miles though. I slowed down and bent over, hands on knees and gasping for air. Sweat ran down my face as I stared at the forest ground, feet bleeding and legs wounded. I felt tears well in my eyes; starting to warp my vision.
Swallowing away my pain and spread my wings out in a stretch along with flying my arms above my head.
Snap! Pop! Crack!
I could hear the sounds of my body stretching its tight muscles. I rested one wing as I turned the other to me. Looking down at the bottom and seeing its beautiful black colors torn. The patterns a normal reflecting deep grey now black from ash.
"THEY WILL PAY!" I yelled out in anger as I clutched the top of my wing. Tears ran down my face as I stared at my destroyed delicate wing. Humans told to be gentle tired to kill me, hunt me down, take my wings, burn me. They just wanted my body for their profits.
My legs gave under my weight and I fell to my knees, sitting on my feet. I rested my wings on the floor before I raised my head to the sky and whaled out. Opening my eyes softly I stared up at the light starting to stream through the leaves above.
"Pip!" A tiny squeak erupted from infront of me causing my head to lower down as tears still ran on my face like a roaring river. A tiny creature sat infront of me. I reached my hand out and pet it taking in its simple features. It was like a fox but instead of red it was a deep blue with more rounded out features. I slowly lifted the creature into my arms glad it didn't fight away and hugged it softly, my face burrowing into its warm fur.
I sat there for a while before I placed it back down and stood once more. My breath came out heavy before I began to walk once more. The trees began to seem more familiar and as I kept traveling a familiar being came along.
A while smile appeared as I saw Azure fly out towards me in a manic. I held out my hand as he landed on my finger. Looking at his fluttering wings I couldn't help but softly brush my hand across the small moths back. A beautiful blue, Azure was a blue tiger moth but larger than normal. 'Not pure' is what humans would call me and Azure due to the fact Azure is fifteen and seven times the size of a normal blue tiger and cause I'm like a basic human just with black lunar moth wings which they call them.
My gaze followed Azure as he fluttered back into the sky and began to slowly fly in the direction of home. I intently followed him and after time passed the trees parted way to reveal my small cozy home. I felt my eyes tear up at my small moss covered home. I trotted up to the garden gate and walked in, opening the front door and dashing inside. Wasting no time I went past unfinished projects and crashed into my room before leaping onto my bed. I hid my face in a pillow as my wings splayed out. The warmth of it all being able to safe and more allowed me to finally relax.
Home… I was finally home.
