Since that day Sasuke never spoke to anyone apart from a few occasions when he had to.
And with Shiro's anti-social personality, he never reached out to him.
The two children who were never even close to each other become even more distant.
*****
A few years have passed.
"Wahhh." Shiro got up from his sleep and noticed two tails.
But he ignored it as they faded away.
As he grows older every two years he gains a new tail.
Well, that was what was told to him in his dreams when he was a child but he didn't have any extra tail.
He didn't know if there was some kind of requirement that he needed to fulfil outside of his age but he didn't care as he thought that he didn't need to have any extra tail to become stronger.
He got up and washed his face and brushed his teeth before taking a bath.
He is now thirteen years old and this day was the day he was supposed to become a genin after showing that he is qualified to be one.
He dries off his head and grabs a pair of shorts.
He wore a long navy blue pants. And a short-sleeved black T-shirt.
And a white coat over. Then he put on a watch.
"Ah. Almost forget." He said as he grabbed a belt that had a pouch attached to it.
The pouch was filled with utility tools for shinobi such as kunai, shurikens, talismans and pills that ease pain.
He then went out after locking the door.
He does not have anything valuable apart from the katana that he got as a present when he was six years old but he does not want it to be stolen.
*****
He looked at the watch that he was wearing.
It was still early in the morning and he could still see some mists.
I could get some ramen. He thought about it as he walked towards the place called Ramen Ichitaku.
It was still early so there was hardly anyone there.
If he didn't see the owner he would have thought that the shop was not open at all.
"Ah. Welcome." the owner greeted him.
But his facial expression was not entirely good.
"What's wrong?" Shiro asked as he sat down.
"Well, we are out of Chashu. My daughter was supposed to get them you see but she still has not come back yet." He said.
"You have tofu. Right?" Shiro asked.
"I will have some fried tofu and miso ramen with Narutomaki." He said.
"That we have. I will prepare it right away." The old man said.
Shiro put the cost of the food on the table as he waited for his food.
"I am sorry." The owner's daughter said as she entered the restaurant with the body of a whole boar.
"Ayame. Hurry up and come help me prepare the soup." The owner said to his daughter.
"We have a customer this early?" She questioned as she looked at Shiro.
"Fine, wait for a bit. Your food will be coming soon," she said as she put on her apron to help her father.
"Huh. We make fried Tofus?" She asked her father who was making fried tofu on a small stove.
"I have been making it for a while since he requested it. It is easy so why not. And we can make more business by making small things like this." He replied.
*****
Shiro then started to run towards the academy after finishing his meal.
The ramen preparation takes too long as the owner's daughter accidentally poured the wrong ramen broth into the bowl where the noodles are.
"Money is running low. I should cut down on eating out." He said.
He also noticed that another person who was around the same age as him running alongside him.
But he has a Konohakage symbol on his belt.
"Who are you?" Shiro asked.
"Me. I am Konoha's handsome devil. Rock Lee. I saw you training early and thought that I should join you for a warm-up." He said as he gave a thumb-up.
His eyebrows are bushy. And why does he have that stupid hair? Shiro thought in his mind.
"You are misunderstanding something. I am not training you see." Shiro said.
"Then why are you running at such speed?" Lee asked.
"Stop following me. I am not training. I am running late for my class." He said.
"Oh. That's why." Lee stopped running alongside Shiro when he heard those words.
"I hope you get to your class in time." Lee cheered as he stayed behind.
"What a weirdo," Shiro said.
"But still, he seems like a nice guy." Shiro smiled as he continued running.
*****
"Just in a nick of time." He said as he arrived in front of the classroom.
There was no teacher present.
"No, you idiot. You are obviously late. It's just that Iruka-sensei is not here since he has to go get an even bigger idiot." The blonde girl called Yamanaka Ino said to him.
Shiro frowned as he sat down.
"So the Bigger idiot is that guy. Right?" Shiro asked Shikamaru.
"Yep," Choji replied instead of Shikamaru.
"He is probably training the clone jutsu since today is the last day of school," Shimaru said.
"That idiot is going to mess it up again. He should know when to give up." Kiba continued.
"Why are you even bad-mouthing him? I thought you two were friends." Shiro said to Kiba.
"And I remember you used to talk to the Uchiha boy." Kiba retorted.
"What?" Shiro said as he got up and walked towards Kiba.
As he grew older his thought process also started to change.
He does not care about avoiding confrontations as he knows that the village will overlook his actions if he is strong or useful enough.
As long as he keeps winning he is going to be fine.
That is at least what the person called Lord Danzo said to him.
"Hey. You should not fight. No matter what kind of arguments you are having you two are still going to serve the village together in the future, right?" The man with the scar on his nose called Iruka entered the classroom with Uzumaki Naruto by his side.
