Chapter 110: Love, Unstoppable
"I'm afraid of losing you. You can't leave me, okay?" Ye Tianlin said softly, his tone sincere as he pleaded for Liang Xiaoluo to stay.
For the first time, Ye Tianlin appeared as vulnerable as a child. Liang Xiaoluo felt her resolve waver, but memories of their tumultuous past pulled her back into doubt. She didn't know how to respond.
"Xiaoluo, I know you're still scared, but please, trust me. Give me one more chance," Ye Tianlin urged, his voice tinged with desperation. He understood why she hesitated—he had let her down too many times. If he were in her place, he would be just as doubtful.
But to not even be given one last chance? That was too cruel.
Liang Xiaoluo didn't answer him. She gently pried his hand from hers, stood up, and walked toward the door.
"Xiaoluo, can't you really come back to me?" Ye Tianlin asked, his heart breaking. It felt as if it had stopped beating altogether. Was she truly unwilling to give him another chance?
She paused mid-step, turned slightly, and said, "What are you talking about? I was just getting you a glass of water."
Ye Tianlin blinked in surprise, unsure if he had heard her correctly. He was too stunned to react, his emotions tangled between disbelief and relief.
He watched as her delicate figure moved to pour water from the nearby table. When she returned, she held the glass out to him.
"Here, drink this," she said gently.
Looking at her serene face, Ye Tianlin's heart swelled with joy. Was this real? Had she decided to stay?
"Not thirsty?" she asked when he didn't take the glass.
Ye Tianlin's mood lifted, and a mischievous smile spread across his face. His usual roguish nature resurfaced. "I'll drink, but I can't sit up. Are you going to help me?"
Liang Xiaoluo immediately saw through his act. "Ye Tianlin, stop playing around. I know perfectly well that if a tiger stood in front of you right now, you'd beat it to death without breaking a sweat."
"Then I'd be Wu Song," he quipped, his tone light.
"Enough joking. Drink your water. Hydration will help you recover," she insisted.
"What do I get if I finish it?" he teased, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
"What kind of nonsense is that?" she asked, exasperated. Was he really acting like a child?
"I don't care. No reward, no water," he declared, pouting like a spoiled kid.
Liang Xiaoluo sighed. "Fine, fine, just drink it first."
Her plan was simple: let him think he'd get something in return, and then pretend to forget once he was done.
But Ye Tianlin wasn't so easily fooled. He accepted the glass and drank half of it. Just as he was about to finish, he gasped dramatically. "Xiaoluo, look! There's something in the glass!"
Startled, Liang Xiaoluo leaned closer, genuinely concerned. "What? Where? I checked—it was clean."
As soon as she leaned in, Ye Tianlin grinned slyly. In one swift motion, he flipped her onto the bed and pressed his lips to hers.
"Ye Tianlin!" she gasped, stunned. "What are you doing? Don't you realize you're injured?"
Her anger flared—not because of the kiss, but because he was risking his health by moving so recklessly.
"You just said I could take down a tiger," Ye Tianlin replied with a laugh.
"That's…!" she stammered, realizing her earlier words had backfired.
Her cheeks flushed a deep red, like ripened apples, making Ye Tianlin's heart race.
"I… uh… your injury… are you hungry? I'll go buy you something to eat," she babbled, flustered. Despite their many intimate moments, she still found herself blushing like a schoolgirl. It frustrated her that she couldn't remain composed.
"Anything I want?" he asked, his tone laden with innuendo.
She nodded absentmindedly, failing to catch the underlying meaning. "Yes, whatever you want."
Ye Tianlin's eyes gleamed mischievously. He pointedly stared at her chest. "Then I want that."
Following his gaze, it took a moment for the meaning to sink in. Her face turned even redder as she realized his implication. "Ye Tianlin! You shameless man! Let me go!"
But he had no intention of letting her go. Leaning in, he kissed her again, deepening it this time. The heat in the room rose as he held her hands above her head, rendering her helpless.
"Ye Tianlin," she pleaded weakly. "You're still injured. You can't…"
Her voice, trembling with both embarrassment and concern, only spurred him on.
"I don't care. I want you, Xiaoluo," he murmured against her ear, his tone low and persuasive.
Liang Xiaoluo froze. How was she supposed to refuse when he looked at her like that? Her resistance crumbled. "Just… be careful with your injury."
She relented, her heart pounding wildly. As always, Ye Tianlin had a way of breaking through her defenses.
Encouraged by her consent, he became more assertive, kissing her passionately. But the movement pulled at his wound, and he winced despite his efforts to hide it.
"Ye Tianlin!" Liang Xiaoluo exclaimed, her concern immediately overtaking her embarrassment. "Are you okay? Is it your wound?"
"It's nothing. Let's keep going," he insisted stubbornly.
"No!" she said firmly, pushing him away. "This stops now. You're hurt, and I won't let you make it worse."
Her newfound assertiveness left him stunned.
"Unless you heal completely, don't even think about touching me again," she declared.
Ye Tianlin groaned inwardly, cursing his bad luck. Of all the times for his body to betray him…
Pouting, he flopped back onto the bed and pulled the blanket over his head, sulking.
"Are you seriously pouting?" Liang Xiaoluo asked, exasperated.
He didn't respond.
"Fine! Ignore me if you want. See if I care!" she huffed, crossing her arms.
The playful mood had shifted, but neither noticed the shadow lingering outside the door—a figure whose eyes glistened with pain and longing.
"Who's there?" Hua Lin, standing nearby, turned sharply, her instincts on high alert. She froze when she saw a man in a doctor's coat and mask standing silently behind her.
Hua Lin's stomach churned. When had he gotten there? How had she not noticed?
The man's presence was as chilling as his silence.
