Chapter 10 - Bound by Fate, Torn by Fear

Selena spent the next day in a fog of thoughts, trying to make sense of the vision that had jolted her awake. The feeling it left behind was a mix of dread and longing an odd combination she couldn't shake off.

At work, the atmosphere was tense, not because of looming deadlines, but because of Alexander's unexpected presence. Normally, he rarely made personal appearances unless there was something critical. Yet here he was, walking through the office with his usual composed demeanor, exchanging polite nods with employees who looked both awed and anxious.

Selena kept her distance, hoping he wouldn't notice her. But fate, it seemed, had other plans. As the day wore on, she received an unexpected message summoning her to Alexander's office.

Her heart pounded as she made her way up to the top floor. She couldn't understand why she felt so nervous. It wasn't like this was the first time she had spoken to him. Yet, something about this meeting felt different.

When she entered the office, Alexander was standing by the window, his back to her. The room was bathed in soft light, casting long shadows across the floor. He turned slowly, his gaze meeting hers with that same intensity she had felt in the car.

"Selena," he said, gesturing for her to sit. "Thank you for coming."

She hesitated briefly before taking a seat across from him. "Is there something I can help you with, Mr. Alexander?"

A faint smile played on his lips. "Drop the formalities, please. Just call me Alexander."

Selena nodded, though it felt strange to address him so informally.

"I wanted to talk to you about something," he began, his tone more serious. "You've been with the company for a while now, and I've noticed your work. You're not just diligent you have a unique perspective, a calm composure under pressure. It's rare."

Selena blinked, caught off guard by the unexpected compliment. "Thank you… I just try to do my best."

Alexander leaned forward slightly, his eyes never leaving hers. "There's more to you than meets the eye, isn't there?"

"I don't know what you mean," she said carefully, keeping her expression neutral.

Alexander studied her for a moment before leaning back. "You're intriguing, Selena. Most people are predictable, easy to read. But not you. You're… different."

Selena felt a strange mix of flattery and wariness. There was something about the way he looked at her, as if he could see through every wall she had built.

Before she could respond, there was a knock at the door. One of Alexander's assistants entered, carrying a sleek tablet. "Sir, the report you requested."

Alexander took the tablet with a nod, but his attention remained on Selena. "We'll continue this conversation later," he said, a hint of promise in his voice.

Selena stood, feeling relieved but also oddly disappointed. As she left the office, she couldn't help but wonder what he truly wanted from her.

Later that night, she sat by the window, gazing out at the city lights. The world outside looked calm, but she knew better. Beneath the surface, something was stirring something that could change everything.

And for the first time in a long while, she felt truly afraid. Not just for herself, but for Alexander. Because no matter how much she tried to deny it, she couldn't ignore the growing bond between them a bond that felt both inevitable and dangerous.

As she drifted into sleep, another vision came to her. This time, it was clearer than before. She saw Alexander reaching out to her, his eyes filled with a mix of hope and desperation. Behind him, shadows loomed, threatening to consume them both.

Selena woke with a start, her heart racing. Whatever lay ahead, she knew one thing for certain she couldn't run from it forever. Whether she liked it or not, fate was pulling her and Alexander together. And soon, she would have to face the truth of what that meant for both of them.
