Chapter 67 - A lingering soul

Yurina stood up, after having to be reminded of the atrocities she witnessed and confessed to Satoya, but Satoya asked another question. "If you were to be freed, what would you do?" He asked as silence lingered in the air, with the only sound being emitted from the white light fashioned at the top of the ceiling.

"Roland has no view of that freedom, nor free will, the most free will I get are those dreams I get of me being in the city, but that dream would quickly be overshadowed by the atrocities he made me commit." She said, with the steel door opening with Roland back inside.

"Alright the delivery came, go get them," He said, his eyes glaring at her as if it was an order. "Also after that help me capture some fool that escaped containment screaming "I want to die!" Its vile voice is irritating me." He added on as Yurina turned back to Satoya then walked out with Roland, following up with the steel door slamming shut.

"I need to figure out a way to get out of here." Satoya said as he looked around, but couldn't think of any way to leave. Then he looked at his chained arms, "If I can somehow heal my arms like what just happened, perhaps.."

"I know what you're thinking, and it is not worth it." Satoya heard in front of him, and what looked to be a person of extremely high status, even god-like standing before him. "Who are you?" He asked, while covering his eyes as the person glowed a somewhat faint light that looked brighter than it actually is because they are in a white testing chamber.

"I am the voice that lingered in your head, Rius." He said, "Yet my real name was erased long ago after I attempted to find out about that Unreachable Truth." He continued.

"I wasn't able to return to the world after that pursuit, as the consequences left my physical form to fade away eternally, with my soul the only thing it allowed me to linger around in," Rius said, with Satoya finally getting used to the light emitted by him. "And coincidentally, my soul merged with your conscience, and that is how I became that "voice" in your mind," He revealed.

"This laboratory is odd, the nature of it rejected my own soul that merged with your conscience, and that is why I was incapable of communicating with you."

"So I had no choice but to use up nearly all of my power to manifest myself into a visible form, and the form you see before you is a representation of my physical body."

"But who are you really Rius?" Satoya asked as if he ignored the information Rius told him, the air felt slightly heavy, with Satoya feeling uneasy after asking the question.

"I am the god of dreams and memories."

"God..?" Satoya mumbled in confusion, "Indeed, but my powers are weakened to a useless state." Rius revealed.

"So to ask more, how did you know I was going to force my way out of these chains?" He asked once again, "I figured, as you want to escape and free everyone in this wretched horrid laboratory."

"But I suggest you wait, wait a little longer, wait for an opportunity to escape, as I am confident enough to know you could escape now, but you would be apprehended extremely quickly by Roland, or even Yurina if she was forced to."

"But what opportunity?" He asked, "your friends, trust them, I know they'll break you free, so wait for that chance." Rius said. "My friends, them? I guess they are reliable (except a certain two, Sakonori and Isaac), but I wonder what they are doing." Satoya thought deeply.
