Chapter 10 - Don't put Leon in the Corner

Leonhardt felt the vibrations from the dungeon before a rush of DP and EXP flowed into him. His eyes swiped across the air, causing the commoners to gaze at him strangely.

However, in reality, he was buying a powerful spell to kill Axel if something went wrong.

He knew his muscles would soon cramp, so he used the two elixirs that dropped into his palms to improve the areas he needed to strengthen.

The moment he popped the corks, a strong banana scene filled his nose from the vitality elixirs, and the defence carried a chocolate milkshake aroma...

However... taking the two elixirs at the same time caused a dangerous reaction as his chest tightened.

『It feels like my eyes are going to explode!』

He couldn't help but bite his lower lip and close his eyes tightly. Was this worth it?! But Leon didn't have the answer. His lips became pale from the pain of his muscles, bones and veins, overwhelmed by the sudden enhancement.

"Ngh?!"

Before he could adjust, his right leg became weak, and he almost collapsed before stepping forward and digging his left foot into the mud.

With a frustrated expression, he clicked his tongue and took a deep breath.

"Tsk!"

Then, the goblins came into view of the other humans.

"Oh my god... it's a goblin village!"

"They said it was just a few goblins... They have bows!"

"Max... we should fucking run!"

"Where the hell can we run, you useless prick? Those mercenary dogs have crossbows to our backs!"

The argument started between the commoners.

Leonhardt honestly couldn't give a damn about their attempts to escape. However, his right leg remained heavy, like lead. He would never let the recruits who were worth a lot of experience and sweet dungeon points.

His face covered with sweat and muscles lacking power, he noticed Gobbolas looking at him with his beady little eyes.

'Hmmm...'

The image of the wooden outpost, with dozens of goblins holding bows beside the huge hobgoblin Gobbolas, entered Leon's sight as they entered the range of his arrows.

Twang!

With the quiet sound of a bowstring rattling, the arrow flew like a ferocious bird. It shot in their direction before the heavy steel arrow.

—Stab!

An archer recruit behind them took an arrow to the neck while trying to knock an arrow and instantly dropped dead. His death caused great shock and commotion. Many commoners began sprinting away from Leonhardt, thinking it would help them dodge.

A flicker of fire appeared under his cuffs, and the runes for the firewall spell appeared in his mind.

Like a predatory hawk, Leon observed the group led by Max running to the left before laughing to himself, his lips curling into a wicked shape.

He then cast the spell, forcing them towards the goblins or retreating to the mercenaries.

WOOSH—!

The wall of fire burst from the ground, creating a 30-metre wall from the west to the north, blocking Max as they panicked.

"Wah?!"

Leonhardt shrugged his shoulders, watching the humans panic as he walked casually, humming to himself. He then grabbed the fallen crude bow and leather quiver with a dozen arrows from the dead human. "Finders keepers."

Suddenly, the crossbow mercenaries moved closer, their cold steel bolts aimed directly at Leonhardt while Alex and Gale glared at him with cold eyes.

"Why are they acting like that?" Leon whispered to himself before spreading his legs... and aiming.

『I should learn how to shoot a bow... are there any items to help me, Dungeon Wife?』

[...]

[Book of Basic Archery]

'What about... the next level?'

[You are too poor!]

[Are you buying it or wasting my time?]

『I'll buy...』

Suddenly, Leonhardt noticed the magic of the dungeon seemed to surpass the mortal world.

When speaking to his dungeon wife or choosing items from the store, the world slowed down to a fraction of its speed.

"Amazing..."

It only took him until he drew his bow to the limit to understand basic archery. The angle and distance... even the wind and how to calculate its direction and force.

While he wasn't an expert, he grasped the theory and noticed subtle changes to his muscles and posture and could feel the pressure on his arms and chest.

"It's time to hunt!"

Leonhardt chuckled heartily, drawing his bow as the tension pulled against his strength. His index finger was above the arrow and middle below, ready to let loose with ease as his feet turned slightly outward and shoulders squared.

Woosh!

The arrow fired like a falling star. It arced through the air and penetrated the throat of Max, who tried to escape in the panic.

Blood splattered from his mouth, staining the grassy field red, and Leonhardt continued to fire arrows toward the weak and defenceless people, feeling as though the area within five hundred yards was completely his domain.

Though he constantly shifted closer and closer to the goblin outpost.

He could feel the mercenary group's anger, their eyes likely popping out while glaring at Leonhardt.

It was at that moment he turned to Gobbolas and mouthed something to him.

"My Dear Children, I have brought you dinner!"

Behind Leonhardt, the group of seasoned mercenaries were rushing towards him.

Despite their plans to kill the humans... they suddenly felt insecure about his actions and began to chase him down.

『Can I make it before they run me down?』

Although facing a near-death situation, Leon's lips curled upwards, his pearly white teeth and fags showing, as his chest started pounding.

Meanwhile, the moment they noticed Leonhardt acting strangely, Gale reacted first.

"Axel, that noble he's strange!"

"What do you mean..." There wasn't enough time to finish his sentence as the handsome noble began to draw his bow, but not towards the goblins.

He shot the humans... and killed one of the recruits with a twisted smile on his face.

"Hurry and take him out. If he flees east, we're doomed!" Axel shouted, prompting the squad of crossbow-wielding mercenaries to move swiftly forward.

However, when they were about to enter range... the eerie noble dropped the bow, tossing it to the side, along with his cloak, while pointing towards them.

"You bastard! What are you!" Axel shouted, losing his cool while holding his enormous sword.

『This bastard is no noble! He's a damn monster!』

"As I thought, elves cannot be trusted..." Gale spat out, his body dashing forward, clearing a dozen yards in a flash.

"Arggh!"

However... before anyone could react or warn him...

The moment Gale reached halfway towards the mysterious noble... a barrage of flaming bolts launched towards him with a high-pitched howl before tearing holes into Gale's chest.

"GALE?!"

Like a broken cloth filled with holes... Gale collapsed, his skin seared by magic so hot it cauterised his wounds...

His death was near instant, making Axel almost stumble to the ground, shocked that the man he considered his right hand... so easily dealt with, like some simple bandit!

That was enough to break Axel's cool.

"Kill him..."

"Get the bastard, tear his throat, pluck his eyes... cut his tongue!"

"GO!"

None of them...

None of them noticed the tragic fate that awaited them because they became too focused on Leonhardt.

The sky darkened.

A volley of arrows, like a torrential storm, rained down on them.

Leonhardt's voice echoed through before the arrows hit.

"Oh—The Massacre!"
