Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: The Eagle's Sight

The night air was crisp as Nikos stepped forward, his boots pressing softly against the damp earth. The moon cast silver light through the street, creating shifting shadows that danced with the wind. He took a deep breath, his mind drifting into memories he had tried to push away. But tonight, there was no avoiding them.

A khinght come and get closer to Nikos and he said we just to need to deliver This Paper

And end our patrol then I go and have dinner with my friends we have work a into later time

Nikos smile and Tell him nicely go and enjoy we have done a lot of work this day tomorrow we have a resting day

Khinght look at Nikos like he looking at angel. With a glowing eyes full of respect

Dinos said to the other khinght how about that case did you tell the sages about?khinght speak with confused voice i don't know what you talk about it mister Dinos

Dinos Reply on it don't mind it's just me i need to have more rest we have done a lot of work later.

"Nikos said to himself Now that the patrol is over… it's time to begin."

Turning to Adonis and Dinos, he signaled for them to follow. "Come, we still have unfinished business in the forest."

The other knights stood nearby, awaiting their orders. One of them stepped forward. "Shall we accompany you, sir?"

Nikos shook his head. "No, you all deserve some rest, you have been working late this days. Adonis and Dinos will come with me."

The knights hesitated but ultimately nodded in respect. Without another word, Nikos and his two trusted friend disappeared into the dense foliage, their presence quickly swallowed by the night.

A Bandit's Misfortune

The three knights moved in silence, their senses sharp as they navigated the forest. After some time, faint voices reached their ears. They slowed their steps, crouching behind a cluster of thick bushes.

"Bandits," Dinos whispered, his eyes glinting in the moonlight.

Nikos peered through the leaves and saw a group of men huddled around a dying campfire. Their clothes were tattered, their weapons crude but dangerous. He could hear them muttering amongst themselves.

In a no time Nikos, Dinos, and Adonis arrived in the bandit camp Adonis said in sily voice hello did you missed us bandit

One of the bandits let out a groan. "Damn our luck. Of all the nights to be out here, we had to run into a high-ranking knight it's just our luck."

Another bandit rubbed his temples, clearly anxious. "Yeah, yeah! Let's just leave before—"

Before he could finish his sentence, a third bandit sneered. "Oh, come on. This isn't fair! A normal bandit should face a normal knight. We're not supposed to deal with Nikos, Adonis, and Dinos!" Balance where is the balance here.

Dinos raised an eyebrow, smirking. "Interesting. How do you know our names?"

The bandit let out a nervous chuckle. "Any idiot who wants to stay alive knows who to avoid."

Adonis grinned, crossing his arms. "I like it. Smart."

The moment was over in an instant. With swift and calculated strikes, Adonis and Dinos subdued the bandits effortlessly. The men barely had time to react before they found themselves pinned to the ground, their weapons kicked aside.

Adonis pulled out a length of rope from his pack. "Let's tie them up before they get any more ideas."

Dinos let out a small laugh, his voice tinged with amusement. "Did you seriously bring us here just to listen to these guys? Because I've got to say, this made my night."

A bandit said with a smile happy to help.

Nikos said let's just make our friends fall asleep and he talke a magic paper a spell on it and he put it on the bandit and they're just fall asleep like a children after the finished there games .

Adonis shot him a look. "Don't be foolish. There's a reason Nikos sent the other knights away."

The playful air vanished as both men turned their gazes toward Nikos. He had remained silent, his expression unreadable. When he finally spoke, his voice was low, almost hesitant.

"You both know about my skill," Nikos said. "Only you two are aware of the Eyes of the Eagle—the ability that lets me see through a person's true nature."

Dinos frowned. "Yeah, but that so-called random skill never really worked, right? You never knew how to activate it, and you never told anyone about it because you thought it was useless."

A cold wind rustled the leaves overhead as Nikos exhaled sharply. "That's what it works anyway. But a few weeks ago, something changed. I don't know how or why, but when I was in the presence of the sages… my ability activated."

Adonis and Dinos exchanged glances.

Nikos continued, his voice carrying an unease they had never heard before. "I didn't see them as people. I saw them as shadows—just shapeless figures with no faces. It's like their very identities were being hidden from me. And the worst part? I can't remember what they looked like even when I try."

A tense silence settled over them.

Dinos' usual playful demeanor was gone. "You're serious?"

Nikos met his gaze. "Would I lie about something like this?"

Adonis rubbed his chin, deep in thought. "If that's true… then there's something unnatural about the sages. Maybe they have some kind of magic masking them?"

Dinos hesitated before speaking, his voice quieter than usual. "I… I noticed something, too. But I didn't have the courage to investigate it."

Both Nikos and Adonis turned to him, waiting.

"When I was in the briefing room, reporting on a mission, I noticed something strange about one of the sages. When I brought up the caves near the city and the missing people… he ignored me. At first, I thought it was nothing. But then, every time I mentioned it, he would redirect the conversation. And worse—any knight who brought it up seemed to forget they had even said anything and the worse of all I'm my self ignore it and forget about it takes me Alot of energy to remember."

Adonis' expression darkened. "That's… not normal."

Dinos let out a shaky breath and sat down on the cold ground, his hands clenched into fists. "I didn't have the courage to push forward. Something about the way he looked at me… it felt like a warning and you know my nature i just wanted to live peacefully."

Nikos knelt beside him, placing a firm hand on his shoulder. "You weren't wrong to be afraid. But we can't ignore this anymore."

Dinos looked up, his eyes full of uncertainty. "What do we do, then?"

Nikos stood, his voice steady with resolve. "We stand together, as knights should. If there's a truth being hidden from us, we will find it."

A Silent Oath

The three of them stood in the darkness of the forest, the distant hooting of an owl breaking the silence. The weight of their realization pressed on their shoulders, but none of them spoke of retreat.

They had uncovered something dangerous—something that could cost them their lives if they weren't careful.

But knights did not turn away from danger.

Nikos tightened his grip on the hilt of his sword, his gaze firm. The Eyes of the Eagle had shown him the truth. Now, it was time to act on it.

No matter the cost
