Chapter 1 - prologue

My name is Pavel. I'm 35 years old and I work as a librarian. I am a young man in full bloom and totally fucked.

Right now I'm lying on the grass. In front of me there is a beautiful azure sky with huge clouds in the shape of various abnormal animals, for example: a tiger that instead of stripes has tattoos with other tigers that have tattoos with other tigers; a bat that instead of wings has huge fists: a fish that instead of fins has huge legs. And that's only a small part of it.

I looked up and saw a temple, apparently Greek, made of marble. When I looked around I saw a village, it was in flames and destroyed, it was being destroyed by trees on legs with handles.

Next to me was an old book. I picked it up and began to leaf through it. It was the book I had just borrowed when there were no visitors in the library, 'The Book of Entities', I knew from the note on the back cover that it was about other worlds. There was no first chapter, no description of it either, instead there were traces of torn paper, and the strangeness didn't end there, all the pages were blank, there was only the annotation with a brief description of the plot of the worlds and their place in the book. The second story in the book was about a traitor who was supposed to save the world from a demon lord. Original.

It must be me. Well, we must seize the moment. I stood up in anticipation. I decided to keep the book. What do I need it for? Can I use it as a weapon? Even the pages are blank, I can't know everything in advance.

With these motives I went to the entrance of the temple, for some reason I was on the side of the temple. And as soon as I stepped onto the gleaming marble steps, the doors opened. They must be waiting for me! I walked on, but I saw him - a man. He had a steel sword in his hand. He looked like a schoolboy himself, dressed in a shirt and trousers. I asked him:

- Who the hell are you?

- Oh, here comes the first inhabitant... You've come to ask me to help save the village, haven't you?

- Didn't you hear my question?

- Oh yes, my name is Daniel. I was summoned to this world to help you escape the Demon King's army.

I was stunned. I don't understand. Wasn't it me who was summoned? He's probably lying to me and I've just decided to ignore him. I continued into the temple. He didn't seem to understand what I was doing, and as I passed him, he asked me in a confused voice:

- What are you doing? Aren't you afraid for your village?

- Why aren't you afraid for my village? Why are you sitting here, you freak?

- Oh, right.

And he ran off towards the village, his heels glistening. I went to the door of the temple and pulled the handle, but the door was locked. With a slight twitch I noticed a wooden plaque floating in the air that had just appeared. It read: "St Mary's Shrine. Temporarily closed. The Goddess has gone on holiday to the beach."

- Oh, fuck.

Right, so I can't go to the shrine. Usually there are beautiful goddesses there, but I guess that's God's will.

Not knowing what to do next, I went to the village. My first thought was to skip the Soddemons and have fun with all kinds of women, and since there's a temple here, the Goddess would be happy to see me, but it turned out not to be the case.

As I walked into the centre of the ruined village, I saw my 'acquaintance' being grabbed by a three metre tall wooden pine man and shoved into his jaws, the first one resisting. There were violet crystals in his eyes. A sword lay at his feet. The little boy noticed me and cried out for help:

- "Help me, it's going to eat me.

I just took the sword, smiled at his expectant look and said with a wave of my hand:

- Goodbye.

The monster bit off his head and ....

I'm lying on the grass. In front of me is a beautiful azure sky with huge clouds in the shape of various abnormal animals. Something is not right here... I have just said goodbye to the imaginary killer and there is this familiar image. Fear gripped me.

I stood up. I looked around. Nothing had changed, everything was the same as at the beginning... My eyes fell on the book. I picked it up and began to turn the pages.

- What the...

I saw this... On the pages of the second chapter of the book, which was about the world I was in, there was a text! I skimmed through it... It told the short adventures of a boy who was summoned by a goddess, met a strange man, went to a village to destroy Ent monsters, but was overpowered and devoured while the man looked at him waving his hand... The story ended there, and the following pages were blank....
