Kain
I sat at the small campfire George and Tobin started. The two were drinkin' and sharin' stories about the late king. I felt bad for Sebastian. His pop seemed like a genuine dude. No one deserves to get their head ripped off like that without warning. That was cowardly of Edwin to do.
But Edwin seems like a coward. He had the Astian warriors cloaked for an ambush we couldn't even sense. Was it because of that, or was it because I was distracted by Lilith's scent? It changed, and I was shocked how Sebastian didn't notice. It was one of the reasons why I suggested she stay at the palace. Guess it's good she didn't. It turns out Edwin had a group attack it.
Sebastian planned ahead and told only George and Tobin to get everyone to follow them and leave once we left. Smart. Didn't expect that from him.
I heard arguing coming from Sebastian's and Lilith's tent. It caused everyone to get uneasy.
"Oi wolf boy!" Tobin snapped me out of my thoughts.
"It's Kain..." I grumbled out. I don't necessarily like being called that, but I also don't mind it either. Abel chuckled.
"Wut ever boy! Drink!" He handed me a mug. I sighed as I took it. I can't really get drunk unless I drink a whole keg. Abel's healing is so advanced from all the hearts we've consumed, he burns it off.
"I can... not burn it off?" He raised a brow as I stared into the cup. I smirked as I agreed, chugging the mug.
"Oui Tobin, remember how Sebastian made Sir Garrett run through the foyer buck ass naked?" George roared out, shoving the stout, bearded man.
"Oi! Of course I do. Dat lil brat was mad because his lady o the night chose Sir Garrett!" They all roared out in laughter.
"Oh, remember the look on King Henry's face?" The two pulled their faces into a stern, funny face. I spat my drink out as everyone laughed.
"Dat man, he raised dat boy, right?" Tobin stared bleakly into the fire.
"Yea... he has his hiccups, but his father would be proud of how he handled today. Hell... I'm proud." George said as he took a sip from his mug.
"Sebastian ain't no sissy. He got the dames, but he got the thumb to rule like his father." Tobin raised his glass up.
"I don't know him well, but from what I've seen..." I raised my glass. "The fate of Astion is in good hands." We all chugged our glasses. I felt Sebastian standing behind us, listening intently. That's why I said what I said. The poor guy needs all the support he can get. Hell, I wouldn't want to be in his position.
Tobin and George yelped as Sebastian cleared his throat.
"Sorry to interrupt your... Gossip. But I was wondering if there was any food?" He crossed his arms, his voice hoarse as the words left his throat. George nodded quickly, gettin up to grab him some of the dinner we all had.
"Kain." Sebastian said my name low. I turned, raisin a brow as he gestured for me to come talk to him. I stood up, gruntin, following his request.
"Kain, we're going to be marching to the south seaside ports. We're going to try to get the sirens to defend that end. On the way Annalise said is her tribe, we might be able to convince them to side with us." He placed his hand on my shoulder. "Is there any way you can head to Astria and convince anyone from your clan to join us?" He sternly looked at me.
I shrugged, pickin my teeth with my pinky.
"It'll be hard, ya know, but I might be able to do it." I flicked a grin at him. "Might have to wrestle my pops, but there's a southern clan on the way to Astria that'll side with us. They hate my ol' man." I patted Sebastian's shoulder. "I'll head out tomorrow. We'll keep in touch through crows, ya?"
He nodded as George came back with two plates of food. He handed them to Sebastian as he thanked the man, turning to head back to his tent.
"Ey, demon!" I shouted. He halted, looking at me with an irritated look. "Keep an eye on Lilith..." I mumbled as I turned to head back to my seat. I felt anger roll off him as he turned into the tent.
"You should have kept your mouth shut..." Abel grumbled out as I sat down. Na. If it was Luna, I'd wanna know immediately if she was carrying my pup. I get why Lilith was hiding it. She wants to fight. And she can. Many women in Astria fight until they give birth, but he needs to know so he can make the right calls.
"Still not your place." Abel rumbled out. Ya, ya hush and let me drink. I slammed back another drink as the night drew out.
I finally stumbled out of the circle once Tobin passed out from drinkin too much. I tripped over my own feet, chuckling as Abel roared in me, laughing. This was fun.
I made my way into my tent, plopping onto the cot. I felt a yelp escape the blankets as I quickly rolled off, falling onto the floor. Luna sat up, flushed, as I lay on the floor bellowing.
"Kain?! Are you drunk!?" she gasped as she peered down from the edge of the cot at me. I grinned.
"Wha cha doin' in here, purty gal?" I reached up, trying to cup her face, but ended up missing and catching air.
"This is my tent Kain..." she whispered out.
"Oopsie!" I shot up onto my feet, swaying as I feebly attempted to leave. I ended up falling back onto the cot, pining her under me. She struggled against my weight as she finally wiggled herself out from under me.
I rolled onto my back, staring up at her.
"Why don't cha let me mark ya?" I cooed out as I snuggled into her lap. She sighed, stroking my cheeks.
"Kain-" I cut her off by bolting up right. Her face flushed as our eyes met. I leaned in, my mouth barely over hers, her breath hitting my face as she whimpered. I slumped forward, my head landing on her shoulder as I blacked out.
I awoke to the sounds of fuckin birds chirping. Jesus, fuck, they're so loud. I grumbled, gripping my head as Abel yelled at me to shut up.
"You shut up!" I roared out as I rolled over, smashing my face into the pillow. I heard a giggle emit from next to me. Rolling over, my face met with the Luna's hip.
"Good morning mea amor." I kissed her exposed skin as she laid back down, facing me. She brushed her fingers against my cheek as I nuzzled into her.
"You're funny when you're drunk." She beamed at me. Abel laughed as I grinned back at her.
"So, I hear you're heading to your village today." Her smile slightly dropped into a pout. "May I come with you?" She asked like she was asking her mom to buy her a gift. I kissed her hand as I rolled onto my back. It'd be easier to protect her, and with everything going on with Sebastian, I don't think his priority would be making sure Luna was safe.
Sighing, I turned my head towards her.
"Ya know you're gunna be the death of me, mea amor." I rolled on top of her. "Yes, you may come."
She let out a giggle as she wrapped her arms around me, pulling me into a passionate kiss.
