Lilith
I ran up the stairs, clutching the coat Sebastian put on me. Hearing Marie was going to marry him did hurt me, oddly, but what hurt the most was the fact my mother could be contacted. Lilly was sound asleep, leaving panic to slide across me. I entered my room, slamming the door. I leaned on it, placing my hands over my eyes as I sobbed. I slid down to the floor, having a full-blown panic attack.
I fell over as pain riddled my chest. My lungs were on fire as I felt the world close in on me. The edges of my vision started darkening as I struggled to breathe. I started wheezing as I pulled my knees up to my chest. A smell drifted into my nose, an odd, comforting one. I tried to focus on what it was, realizing it was Sebastian's' coat.
Shakily I took the corners, wrapping it tightly against me. I buried my face into the folds, inhaling the sweet smell of sandal wood and patchouli. I sobbed as I let his coat comfort me. My manic crying slowly turned into small choked out sobs as I slowly raised myself up. My legs trembled as I forced myself to the bathroom.
I reached the tub, reaching my trembling hand out to the spout, I turned it. The water sloshed into the tub as I watched it fill up. I closed my eyes as images from my encounter with Azazel flooded my mind. The fact Lilly ignored me when I asked her not to, told me all that I needed. She felt a bond with him. And I can't come between that. It didn't matter if our clan forbade us finding someone on our own. A mate bond is a mate bond, and Lilly would be shattered and cease to exist if I denied this.
I dropped Sebastian's coat to the floor as I climbed into the tub, the water immediately darkening. I kept the drain unplugged so it would suck the grime down. I scrubbed myself down until the water turned clear. I plugged the drain, filling it up as I sat there with my arms wrapped around my knees.
"Might as well let one of us have a happy ending, huh, Lilly?" I mumbled as the water rose. Sebastian was only interested in me because of Azazel's strong pull to Lilly. How could he like someone like me? I'm just a living breathing weapon. All my insecurities started flooding in.
"Oh Lilith, another roll? Really? Your sister has barely touched her plate, let her finish before you go for more. Slow down, you'll be the size of a hog soon. Really Lilith? A whole month on a mission and you still have love handles?" My mother's taunts came through my head. "You can do better, spin again. Balance better. Dodge better. You wouldn't be injured if you just knew how to fight like your sister. You wouldn't have been branded, showing the whole world what you are if you just listened like your sister. Another C rank mission?"
I tucked my head under my arms as my tears hit the rising water. My mother would rip me a completely new one if that letter ever got to her. Especially since I was never supposed to come here in the first place. The thought of slipping under the water and just ending it crossed my mind. Lilly wasn't awake.... It could easily have been done before she triggered our healing abilities.
"You won't slip under the water and drown on me now, will you?" Sebastian's voice from yesterday rang through my ears. I stood up, clenching my fists tightly. I fumbled my way out of the tub, slipping and sliding as I rushed to pack my things.
I stuffed what clothing I had into my bag, leaving a shirt and pants to throw on for now. I slung on my cloak and backpack, halting at the door. I sighed, turned and went to the desk in the corner. I pulled out the drawers, finding a pen and paper. I pulled it out, scratching quickly on it. I folded it, then turned and placed it on the pillow of the bed I was on. I hesitated, then turned to leave.
I opened the door, looking down the corridor. No one. I went over to the banister looking down. No one. I jumped over it, landing gracefully on my feet. I didn't want to risk running into Sebastian. I was abandoning my post; I was going home so they could send someone else. And I needed to get a good distance before Lilly woke up.
I quickly slipped out the back door, by the courtyard. A bunch of servants were trying to clean up the pools of blood while others were trying to figure out how to dispose of the giant monster's body. I snuck by them, jumping over the high walls with ease, landing on the other side. I adjusted my cloak as I headed towards the thick wooded area.
I kicked a couple of rocks as I dragged my feet. I didn't want to go. Maybe I was starting to have feelings for Sebastian. Leaving will hurt Lilly's mate bond, but I can organize something at home and come back, letting her have what she wants. I halted as I ran my hands down my tattoos. Who was I kidding? They'd force us to breed with someone else to make more suitable weapons. Maybe leaving now before she marked Azazel, or before he marked her would be easier on her.
I continued forward, the fear of my mother coming here and tearing me away herself scared me more than anything else. I dragged my feet again, kicking a pile of leaves. I hit something under them with my shoe, it went flying, hitting a tree trunk. Curious, I walked over to it. I bent down and picked up a hand carved flute. It had runes carved into them, and it appeared to be made from bone.
I ran my fingers over the etchings. My eyes widened as I realized I'd seen this before. It's a beast summoning flute. That explains why the Griffin was so far out of its territory. Someone must have used this to lure it out and lured it here.
I stood up, as I tucked the item into my bag. I'll give it to the next Guardian who will take on this mission. I sighed as I continued forward. I soon cleared the forest's edge, walking onto the path I arrived on. The sun was set in the sky, telling me it was around one o' clock. The horses and carriages passing by brought on a slight feeling of uneasiness to me. I pulled on my hood to obscure my face as I saw some people looking down on me.
My stomach grumbled. I should have eaten that whole apple, instead of just eating a bite, so Sebastian would stop staring at me. I shook my head, clearing my mind of those thoughts. I kept my trek forward. The wind shifted slightly, blowing gently against my skin as I rounded the bend. I don't know how long I walked; it must have been sometime because the sky started turning orange. Lilly slowly woke in my head.
"What the hell Lilith!" She yelled at me as I continued forward. I shrugged as another horse rider passed us. "Go back... Now!" She growled more aggressively than I'm used to.
"No! I am your vessel; you will listen to me! We must go home. We can't have mother show up on Sebastian's doorstep. What do you think she'll do once she finds out he's a demon?" I snarled back. Lilly was silent.
"She'll find out if you send someone else..." She whispered. I sighed, then continued forward. I saw a small inn at the end of the road, deciding it'd be best to grab some food before we continued our journey. I headed towards it.
I stepped through the door, my head hung low as the sound of chatting crossed my ears. The smell of stew and beer drifted across my nose. I walked up to the bar counter, sitting down.
"What can I get ya lil girl?" The bartender grinned as he leaned on his massive forearm towards me.
"Stew please, and some water please." I answered bluntly. He sucked his teeth then clicked his tongue before he reluctantly left. The vibes here were odd, to say the least. The women here all seemed to be... frisky while the men seemed to be rougher around the edges. It's probably the area, just get what you need and leave.
"That'll be 5 gold." The bartender stated while placing my order down in front of me. I reached into my bag, pulling out ten and giving it to him. He snatched my wrist, yanking me forward. My hood flew off, revealing my face. He grabbed my chin.
"Ah a Lahnust gal." He smugly said. What is up with everyone fucking touching me?!
