Chapter 9 - Chapter 9:Velmont's party

Aileen's POV*

Two days on, I was asked to submit some files to Anthony"Here you go sir" I said as I dropped the bunch of flat files on his large desk. He lifted his gaze from his desktop screen and fixed them on me "And about that industry report I asked you to write up last night?" he asked in his usual professional tone.

I rubbed my palms together with a warm smile as usual "It's all ready sir, I've submitted it along with these files" I retorted, placing my hand on the bunch of files I submitted.

"Great!, umm" he rubbed his chin with narrowed eyes "By the way, am taking you to Valmont's party tonight". He said and my eyes widened "Oh, that's impromptu" I murmured, pouting my mouth, my eyes facing down.

"I didn't hear you What did you say?" he asked to clarify what I said. "Oh, nothing" I lifted my gaze back to him and swung my hands backwards "Do you want me to prepare anything else for tonight?" I asked with my eyebrows raised.

He continued to rub his chin as he used his gaze to rake me from head to toe slowly, "You're not going like this are you?", he asked and I stood there like a mannequin not knowing what to say or do "My boss is just crazy" I thought and seeing that I was speechless, he made a move.

"Dean" he called and Dean walked in almost immediately "Get her something nice to wear from the store. She's gonna be needing it tonight for Velmont's party, be quick about it" he commanded and Dean turned to me. "Let's go Ms. Smith" Dean ushered me out of the office. He took me to a nice luxurious boutique to pick an outfit that would suit the party. I selected a simple emerald green dress with a bag and a shoe that'll match it. I got dressed there, applied a slight makeup and remade my hair but this time around, I didn't style my hair the ponytail way, instead, I left it to fall freely to my shoulders with its curly texture.

"Now we are talking" Dean complimented, as soon as I emerged from the dressing room. His mouth fell agape "You look so beautiful, different and stunning" he added then I let out a slight chuckle "Thanks Dean, but no flattering". I warned with a brief eye roll.

"Oh, no am not flattering am just stating the obvious"

"It's past 7 pm aren't we going to be late for the event?" I asked, my eyes fixed on my wristwatch.

"Oh, thanks for stating it. Mr Price is already waiting at the venue. Let me take you there" he said as he paid the bills. We got into the car and he drove me off to the venue.

We got to the venue in just 20 minutes. "finally" I exhaled as I alighted from the car. "Wow," I said, with floods of excitement in my eyes piqued by the venue's stunning decoration. As soon as I alighted, the glitters of my luxurious gown diverged on every surface causing everyone to turn and fix their eyes on me. Their stares gave me goosebumps and chills but I didn't let it show, I wore a wide confident smile instead. Then I took a few paces from the car, my heels clicking loudly on the floor, "Now where is Anthony?" I thought then I paused for a moment, my eyes hovered around the environment I was probably searching for Anthony. "Where could he be?" I muttered with furrowed brows with my purse in my hands.

"You look so gorgeous tonight" I heard Anthony's voice come through from behind me i turned swiftly but I lost my balance because of his unexpected show-up that startled me. I almost fell to the ground but he grabbed me by my tiny waist almost immediately, he held me in that position for a moment as he locked his eyes on mine then his gaze moved slowly to my red juicy lips. He pulled me a bit closer to himself and took up my personal space. His lips were an inch away from mine, his eyes still fixed on my lips. My heart pounded faster and my eyes darted uncontrollably, "Sir, all eyes are on us", I warned calmly.

He tilted his head slightly "Oh, oh, am sorry" he apologized as he let go of me. He adjusted his black limited edition suit and shoved his hair backwards with his fingers. Then he put out his right hand to receive mine "Shall we?" He asked romantically, it came as a surprise to me but I had to act in "Yeah" I replied with a bold smile then I placed my right hand in his.

We wanted forging ahead but we halted when a guy blocked our way. He wasn't looking bad, he looked calm and responsible "Hey Anthony" he called out.

"Hi Velmont" Anthony retorted then he turned to me "Aileen, this is Velmont, my friend from high school and one of my business partners. He's the host of this party" he introduced pointing to Velmont.

"And she is???" Velmont asked Impatiently, widening his eyes in curiosity. "My assistant, her name is Aileen" Anthony supplied without hesitation, tightening his grip on my palm.

 "Perrrrrsonaaaallll asssisssssstant," Velmont said teasingly.

"Oh, stop it Vel" Anthony shot at him.

"Okay, okay fine, but you almost kissed your assistant just now I saw it all. Anyways it's nice to meet you Aileen" Velmont said as he stretched forth his hand for a handshake.

"Thank you Mr. Velmont, it's nice to meet you as well" I added as I reached for the handshake with a warm smile.

"Uh, guys, what are we drinking tonight? beer, wine, whiskey, heness...." Velmont asked with multiple options darting his eyes from me to Anthony but I cut in immediately "Oh sorry umm, Anthony's not drinking tonight" I stated as I wrapped my hands around Anthony's arm, raising my chin playfully. "His doctor told me to keep an eye on him, so... Em... Sorry, no no drinking" I added and Velmont furrowed his brows with a grin. "Come on Anthony, she's just your P.A and not your chaperon".

Anthony chuckled slightly "Uh, Vel, I'm not drinking tonight okay? Let's do something else" Anthony made it clear with a satisfactory smile.

Velmont rolled his eyes dramatically "Okay. Poker game? anyone?" He suggested, raising his brows, "The loser will have to do a truth or dare" he added with a mischievous glean.

"Sounds great let's go" Anthony agreed then the three of us sat down around a small table in a corner, Velmont brought out some gambling cards from his pocket, shuffled them and shared them amongst me and Anthony including himself prompting the game to begin. "Am not used to such games" I said as I shyly picked the portion of cards in front of me. The beginning was fun but after a while of playing, I lost "damn it" I murmured.

"Girl, you lost, Truth or Dare?" Velmont asked without hesitation.

 "Mmm... Truth"

"Okay, are you still single? Do you wanna have dinner with me?" he asked. Piqued by the question, Anthony adjusted his sitting position seems like he was more interested in the question. The both of them fixed their eyes on me.

"Ummm, first, that was two questions and secondly, I'm married" I replied, flaunting my fingers at Velmont.
