"you know why you're here." the headmaster, a middle-aged, 6 foot five, man, with jet white hair, unaged, striking facial features that of a man 30 years younger, and enough visible muscle straining against his clothing to make anyone nervous, stated, not a doubt in his mind as he leaned back against the front of his desk, and absentmindedly moved his right hand to pat the top of a massive black wolf's head.
its height the definition of imposing, as just sitting down, it was taller than I was at a staggering five foot nine.
impossible for normal animals.
and yet, here it was.
here it sat, his loyal pet.
rumored to have been found by him as a puppy, lost alone in the woods, by his side ever since.
feeding off of his aura and using it to grow and gain something truly horrifying.
the ability to nullify abilities, both temporarily.
and permanently.
I gulped as I fidgeted in place and nervously got out, in a shaky voice, "I-I...I do."
much to the disapproval of the animal in front of me, who, with glowing red eyes, snarled practically right in my face.
only daring to stop when its master, the headmaster, began stroking its ears, causing it to instantly melt and start wagging its tail side to side as he looked me in the eye and remarked, "good. don't ever do it again." with a smile I couldn't bring myself to look at for fear of upsetting the wolf.
"you can go, hurry on to class now." came not too much later.
and so, I did.
I mean, why would I wait?
why would I risk my life in the face of death?
I panicked as I barely resisted the urge to run at the tingling of the canine's glare on the back of my neck.

*SLAM*
"*sigh*....." Samuel exhaled as the student fled the room and he moved around to, and collapsed into the chair behind his desk.
exhausted.
I clicked my tongue, furrowed my brow, and shifted forms, my body consumed in a cracking of bone, moving of skin, and dissipating of fur, a shrinking, that, went from covering my entire body, to instead being long strands of human hair that reached the small of my back.
hair I mostly ignored as I hopped onto the desk and looked the haggard man in the eye with genuine concern.
"please."
"let me help you!" I plead, for the hundredth time this week, as I used my best puppy dog eyes.
"you can't keep doing this!" I barked, unintentionally.
"one of these days....it's going to kill you." the fear started to rise, started to effect my voice as I got off the desk, and sat down on top of him, facing him, my arms wrapped tight around him, my legs dangling off the back of the chair, my face, buried in his chest so that he couldn't see the tears I was fighting.
the pain.
the twisting knife of discomfort at the thought of losing him.
I sniffled, and pulled my head back so that I could look him in the eye.
"you're all I have." I let out, terrified.
which, was the complete opposite of him, as, instead of meeting fear with fear, he smiled.
placed his hand on the top of my head, and told me, "and you're all I have, it's why I can't let you help, your power to remove abilities is only a rumor right now, if it were ever confirmed, you'd be removed from me in a heartbeat, I can't risk that." in the warmest voice I'd ever heard, the same voice he used the day he found me.
I melted, and wanted nothing more than to hide as I scurried to get off him and back into my other form.
panting for breath as my tail betrayed me and wagged incessantly in utter bliss.
I grumbled, a sound that came out as more of a growl.
while Samuel walked over, knelt down to be below my eye level, and began rubbing my neck with both hands.
instantly making me grateful for not being a cat, or a human at the moment, because if I had been, I would've purred.
I realized while avoiding eye contact and wondering if he could see me blushing through all the fur.
although, I'm sure it didn't matter.
I'm sure he didn't even realize that the creature he viewed as his daughter, loved him in a way no daughter ever should.
