Chapter 2 - A World of Cultivaion

Ethan felt a splitting headache when he tried to open his eyes. He rubbed his eyes and forehead making the pain somewhat less bearable as he took notice of his surroundings.

He was in a dimly lit place. He was lying on a rugged and hard surface making it uncomfortable for his back. The ceiling and the walls, everything was uneven and rugged. It was a brownish coloured structure apparently made of stone.

"A cave?" muttered Ethan with a frown. He tried to recall the last bit of the happenings.

To Ethan's utter dismay, he was able recall two sets of memories. The first set naturally belonged to himself, Ethan Alaricon. These were the memories of the genius scientist, the rich and the powerful and the influential person he had been.

He remembered the last bit of that life. The experiment he had been conducting and the final explosion which probably had killed him.

The second set of memories felt a bit foreign to Ethan. This set of memory belonged to person called Marcus Clifton.

"Have I transmigrated or what?" Ethan muttered in extreme shock.

In his previous world, he had been well aware of the fantasy novels which dealt with reincarnation, transmigration or time travel. Being a scientist, especially when his most ambitious project was about time and space travel, he had a small hope that someday, humanity might have the power to travel through time… but probably for nano of seconds.

Time was something which according to Ethan had been absolute and this nano of second of travel was something in the realms of impossibilities.

Ethan without any doubt would have scoffed at the ideas of transmigration… or reincarnation.

The other shock to Ethan even if he came up to terms with his transmigration was the setting of this new world.

The world in which Marcus lived… whose body was now Ethan occupying was completely different from his world. This was a world of fantasy… world of cultivation.

Research, science, technology and endless pursuit of understanding of universe was the main drive in Ethan's world but mad rush towards power was the drive in the world. It was power achieved through cultivation. Even so the world was not completely primitive as he might have expected in pure cultivation world… the technology in this world was developed, the only difference that it revolved around cultivation and worked on entirely different principles.

In this world, every person was born with something called spiritual veins. In extremely rare conditions, one was born without any spiritual veins. These spiritual veins were the basic or the cornerstone of the cultivation.

Spiritual veins were a set of fixed inter linked paths inside the body through which the spiritual energy was circulated and refined.

Every person would begin their cultivation journey at the age of 17, which was the best suited age to start this incredible and arduous journey.

The process of becoming a cultivator was very simple. At the beginning of the cultivation journey, one would absorb spiritual energy to enter the realms of cultivators. Absorbing the spiritual energy basically meant sucking in the spiritual energy from the atmosphere or through different cultivation resources then circulating it through the spiritual veins using different cultivation methods. After the circulation of the spiritual energy thorough the spiritual veins, they were pumped into one's mindscape or subconsciousness.

The first step into the path of the cultivation was the Spiritual Realm.

As soon as anybody even absorbed a single strand of spiritual energy, he or she could say to have become a cultivator arriving into 1st Order Spiritual Realm. This was followed by 9 more stages to reach the pinnacle of the Spiritual Realm.

This was followed by True Spiritual Realm and many more Realms.

A lot of different people had different kind of spiritual veins. Few spiritual veins were wider and sturdier making their absorbing capacity of spiritual energy high. Few spiritual veins were narrower and softer making their absorbing capacity low. Few other unique spiritual veins were also found granting the person unique powers and characteristic.

Two other important factors deciding one's talent was- Physique and Bloodline.

Few people were born with natural superior physical bodies or with different unique bodies giving them an inherent advantage over other people.

Similarly, there were people born with unique bloodlines giving them unique powers.
