Chapter 1 - The Beginning

The city of Zerda was beautiful on the outside, with its tall buildings, glowing lights, and bustling streets. But beneath the surface, it was full of secrets—dark, dangerous, and deadly. When the police couldn't solve a case, the Zerda Investigative Bureau (ZIB) stepped in.

The ZIB wasn't just any team. It was a group of eight skilled individuals, each with a unique talent. Together, they solved crimes that left everyone else scratching their heads.

Tonight, the ZIB was gathered in their headquarters, a quiet building tucked away in the heart of the city.

At the head of the table sat Xian, the leader. Calm, sharp, and always thinking ahead, Xian was the one who brought everyone together. He had an eye for details and could see connections no one else could. The team trusted him completely.

Next to him stood Han, the fighter. Han was big and strong, with arms that could knock out anyone in a single punch. He wasn't just muscles, though—he had a big heart and always put his team first.

By the window, Calen, the doctor, looked through a stack of reports. He was quiet and focused, always searching for answers in the evidence left behind. Beside him was Lina, his assistant. Lina had sharp eyes and a quick mind. She was great at spotting the smallest clues and helping Calen make sense of them.

On the other side of the room, Jenny and Jimmy, the runners, were already planning their next moves. Jenny was fearless and fast, always ready to chase down a suspect. Jimmy was just as quick, with a sharp sense of direction that helped him navigate Zerda's streets like a map.

At the far end of the room, Riri, the tech expert, was busy with her laptop. She could hack into anything, track anyone, and find digital clues that no one else could. Beside her, Irin flipped through old case files. Irin loved digging through details and putting the pieces together, often uncovering things everyone else missed.

Xian stood up, and the room went quiet. "We've got a new case," he said, his voice steady. "Six people have gone missing in the last month from the same district—Nocturne Alley. The police haven't found any clear connections, but I have a feeling there's something more to this."

He paused, letting the weight of his words sink in. "These weren't random disappearances. The victims all vanished after dark, around the same time, without a trace. No signs of struggle, no evidence left behind. The police think they just ran off or got caught up in their own lives, but I think someone's been pulling the strings. Someone with a plan."

Riri looked up from her laptop, her brow furrowed. "Any known ties between the victims?"

Xian nodded. "Not much, but we've found a pattern. All the missing individuals were connected to underground businesses—drug trafficking, illegal gambling, things like that. But nothing solid. It's like they were all living double lives."

Jenny leaned forward, her eyes sharp. "So, someone's targeting them for a reason. What's the endgame?"

Xian shook his head. "That's what we need to figure out. The police have been going around in circles. I believe there's something bigger at play—something organized. Our job is to dig deeper, find the links, and uncover what this is really about. We can't afford to waste time."

The team exchanged glances, the air thick with determination. They all knew this wouldn't be an easy case, but they were ready.

Outside, the city hummed with life, unaware of the shadows creeping in. Inside the ZIB headquarters, the team was preparing to unravel another dark mystery. This time, they were diving deep into Nocturne Alley, where the truth was buried beneath layers of secrets, lies, and danger. The investigation was about to begin, and nothing would stop them from uncovering the truth.
