Chapter 2 - The little stranger

'Can you help me cross the road?' I look down to see a little girl. She looked like she was around three to four years old just likey own daughter Rachel. I knelt down beside her touching my right knee on the ground.

'Why are you here all alone?' I ask her, slightly making my eyes little bigger. I have no idea why I do that but it's an habit I build up while talking to my own little princess.

'My mom is in that store.' The little girl said, pointing towards the Ralph Lauren store across the street.

'Okay, sweetie. I'll help you cross the road but first tell me what's your name.'

'Samantha'

'Samantha. What a lovely name! I am Mona.' I talk to the little girl and I get up. I hold her hands. Her small hands were cold. The weather was really cold so no wonder her hands were cold.

I hear the ping signalling that it's safe to cross the road now. We both walk together. Samantha wore a pink dress and her hair messy and cropped to shoulder length. Her dress was somewhat dirty as well. She wore pink sandals which has little red hearts on it with white socks. She held my hand tightly with her small hands. Assuming that she's scared, I squeeze her hand to comfort her.

As we reach the middle of the road, Samantha suddenly stops walking. I turn around to look at her, as she was a step behind than me. She looked at me and smiled.

'Come with me. I like you.' She says in a sweet voice. A little too sweet. She looks at me with big pleading eyes.

'What?' I ask furrowing my brows.

'Stay with me forever.' She whispers and her face starts to change. A huge wound forms on the right side of her forehead and blood starts dripping, splattering on her filthy pink dress. Her pretty brown eyes turns completely black, hollow with no emotions at all. Her smiling face covered with dirt. And her grip on my hand getting tighter and tighter to a point that it was actually hurting me now. I was in a complete daze. I can not look away from her even though I wanted to. I wanted to run away from her. I was feeling fear in every part of my body. But I couldn't move.

Suddenly I heard something honking. Someone was aggressively honking. I turn my head to look at the source of the noise. Only to see a huge red truck hurtling towards us. I tried to pull my hand out of her grip. Her fingers were like a steel clamp, my wrist aching under the pressure. Tears rolled down my eyes as I begged her to let me go. But all of struggles were in vain. I can hear the truck getting closer, it's honking vibrating through my entire body. I tried to move my legs, to run somehow run away but my legs didn't budge. I don't want to die. My little girl is waiting for me. I hear the screech of tires as the driver of the truck slams the brake but it's too late. The impact is sudden but for me the time has slowed down. My whole life flashed infront of my eyes as my body is crumpled like a dry leaf under the weight of the truck. I hope Drew will be strong enough to take care of our daughter. I'm sorry Rachel mom won't be there for you. My vision gets blurry as my skull hits the pavement with a gemreat force probably cracking my skull. I writhe in pain, my blood pooling underneath me. As the darkness creeps in, I hear Samantha's utterly sweet and haunting laughter. I will never forgive you for taking me from my Rachel. Then, everything went quite and dark.
