"Ugh, Cillian! Where the hell is Cillian?!"
"I bet she's in his room sleeping, Mum,"
Thud—!
'Ugh, why are they being noisy in the morning? I could hear their voices downstairs…'
Thud—!
The footsteps gradually increased from downstairs, and soon my bedroom door shut wide open.
"Cillian!"
Completely covered with the warm blanket that has been with me for eighteen years, my eyes fell on my Mum.
"Hi, Mum,"
My mother, Freia Wellington, is a very strict yet loving woman.
She had long brown hair that went up to her waist, auburn eye colors the same as mine, and a beautiful face.
"Hi, Mum~"
Freia imitated weirdly before walking towards my bed.
She removed my blanket before nagging me.
"It's past ten in the morning! And today is a special day for your sister! Don't tell me you forgot what day it is."
Pondering for a moment, my mouth moved on its own.
"It's her graduation day?"
"Yes!"
Looking at my mother who had taken good care of me for the last eighteen years, a small sigh escaped from his lips before replying with a respectful tone.
"I will prepare now…"
Freia looked at me with a warm expression and smiled.
"Okay. Tidy up your room before going down. We'll eat shortly,"
Watching the back of my mother leaving my room, I shifted my gaze at our house's ceiling.
'I still couldn't believe it…'
By the looks of it, I, the previous Emperor Vance, the Supreme Arcane Emperor was reincarnated into an unknown child into some unknown mother.
It seemed like eighteen years of my life had been wasted in the peaceful home given to me by my second life's parents.
It was kind of surreal to me.
After all, the sensation of peace has not occurred once in my past life.
Blood, corpses, wars, and killings— that was my kind of world.
That's why being exposed to peace was… fulfilling.
And I have never been so grateful for it.
I kind of like it.
And I will do whatever it takes to keep it that way.
…
The Wellington Family isn't influential or rich.
They are just your average go-to family like countless families there are outside.
We have relatives from my father's and mother's side but I couldn't care less what or who they are. We sometimes have family gatherings… if that's what they called it, and I didn't even give a damn about their names or statuses.
I just loved being here with my mother, father, and sister.
"Now, say thanks,"
The Wellington Family under my father, Reo Wellington, is our breadwinner and a loving husband of Freia.
He runs a shop downtown, provides the utmost care and protection one can have that I can be thankful for, and is a very affectionate father for my mother, me, and my sister.
At the same table that we had, our hands held each other as we prayed for our food.
"Thank you for the food—"
Listening to Reo leading the prayer, my thoughts wandered around.
I've never even prayed while I was Vance.
Heck, I don't even like gods if they even existed, or church people.
There's one thing in common about them and that is faith was something that held the world together… which somehow explains why we held our hands.
Faith... it's such a concept I couldn't understand no matter what but it still brought together people anyway.
"Amen…"
Releasing our hands while not having a sense of guilt of thinking sacrileges, we began to eat the food on the table.
"Hey Cillian, can you pass me that chicken?"
The woman on my side who called to me, just a year younger my age was my sister. She goes by the name Yana.
Unlike me whose looks all came from my mother's side, Yana was the one who inherited the looks of Reo.
Yana had indigo hair that fell right just above her shoulders with strands of brown hair that came from Freia.
She had clouded blue eyes, a striking face that could make every woman and man swoon, and a figure that was built for greatness.
Well, she's the gem of the Wellington Family like every people from our relatives and friends has been talking about.
That was only natural.
"Here,"
After passing the chicken, I added a comment.
"Congratulations on graduating. I'm very proud of you,"
Yana smirked and retorted.
"What about you, Cillian? It's been a year since you finished yours. You haven't even tried entering the prestigious school Sword and Magistry Academy like every kid our age. We can come together to try, you know? We have nothing to lose,"
While Yana was explaining about her plans she told countless times, I was able to spot that Freia and Reo made subtle expressions.
It was faint but their eyes were giving me the same vibes I had received from my past life, something I know all too well.
Expectations? Desire for the greater good of their children? The longing to see their children achieve what they want in life?
That's what they were telling me in their eyes.
Do I want it though, that's the question.
Of course, I don't.
This life has been great, too great that I could've ever imagined.
I was exposed, got addicted to it, and don't want to ever letting it go.
Entering the Sword and Magistry Academy is one way to destroy that peace that I had been with for the last eighteen years.
…how I badly wished that there was no education today…
'I guess one can only make choices when they are in their second life. I could understand where Yana was coming from but… I'm good here,'
Eating a piece of meat from my plate, I gave a short answer.
"I'll think about it after we eat. Go on now, we have your graduation waiting for us,"
Yana seemed disappointed about my answer which had been shared through Reo and Freia's faces.
I'm not disappointed though.
Why?
Well, why would I even be disappointed if I'm the best one there is that this world can offer?
…
Obviously, I'm not the best one right now.
During my eighteen years of existence, I've never touched or studied mana which is new to me since every day in my past, the only thing I did was research related to it.
Oh, how I find it exhausting now.
Clap—!
Watching my sister go down on the stage after delivering a speech for her school year as she was the best one in this unknown school, I clapped my hands proudly.
Just because I've already experienced such fervent in my past life doesn't mean I have to spoil such fun things for my sister.
She's adorable and I don't want to break her innocence now.
She's going to see how dirty the world is through her eyes, but I will be there protecting her side.
'Rise up sister...'
By the way, I am Cillian Wellington.
It's been 500 hundred years since the Supreme Arcane Emperor died.
And the eighteen years of my life in the Wellington Family have gone by.
Just like that, with these loving people by my side.
