Anwan had done it. She had officially lit the egg on fire with a blow torch we kept for camping.
It seemed like the glass melted away to reveal a shell.
"Wait wait! Stop!" I said putting my arms out protectively and calmly. I wasn't upset with her I just felt that she didn't need to burn it more.
The egg had begun to hatch.
Loki appeared out of thin air and smiled at us as his great great granddaughter began to come into the world. I just watched. It was magestic.
The little dragon like creature with a wolf face peeked out and ate at its shell before growing tired. "Shri-ahoo!" She said softly and then lay down and her scales disappeared to reveal a human baby.
I felt like I was taking an alien out of a spacecraft. I huddled over to her with a blanket from the couch and gently picked her up in my arms.
Then Loki kissed her forehead and pinched my cheek and vanished.
I held her in my arms and felt the love and joy that I had felt every time I had given birth and I knew that she was mine now. "My sweet Kat." I said softly. "Momma's here."
"I wanna see." Anwan said as she peeked at the baby. "Wow! She's so pretty!"
"She's beautiful." I said admiring her white hair, she must look like her mother, perhaps a goddess." I commented. I felt so blessed.
I held her closely wrapped in the blanket and went to my closet to find a smaller one.
In a box I had kept anwan's baby stuff. I found a diaper from her keepsakes and put on a onesie. I'm surprised I hadn't thought to get baby stuff for her but I had stuff from the boys.
I guess I hadn't known that she was going to be so human.
I rocked her and sang to her and found a car seat for her in the basement and prepared to go to the store to buy some formula.
But then I was a bit confused. Did she drink human food or dog food? Which kind of formula should she have? Or did she eat stuff that…..lizards ate? I shuddered at the thought of mashing crickets to feed a baby.
"Shri-ahoo." She said gently waking in confusion as I put her into the baby carrier.
The boys came downstairs groggily and when they saw her they began to jump up and down. "Baby! Baby! Baby! Baby!" They both chanted.
"No! Boys calm down."
But she began to cry and the power went on brighter and turned off and turned on until light bulbs broke with a huge power surge.
She looked startled and scared. I quickly undid her seatbelt and picked her up, her electric aura shocked me but I didn't care.
My hair stood up on end and Michael came out of my room groggily.
What's going on? He asked rubbing his eyes. "Is that a baby?"
He saw the broken lights and the baby crying in my arms and then his face went pale.
"She's a….she's a…. It's Kat!" He exclaimed.
Then he nearly passed out.
Kat turned to me and nuzzled my bosom. "Shri-shoo!" She exclaimed biting at my shirt.
"I'm sorry baby." I said I need to go buy you some-" suddenly I was cut off by a system notification.
[new ability acquired: feeding Kat. Now all HP will convert to milk for her as needed. Leveling up to level 20 now.]
I smiled. I swiped with my finger and an item appeared, a bottle full of milk for her. And it only cost me 500HP. Cheaper than feeding her before. I was glad I had leveled up recently because earning my HP gave me 10HP more than usual for tasks so this was becoming more manageable.
Respawns were just as out of control though. I needed to find a way to get on top of it.
"Ok Kat. I guess it's not a cricket kind of food, that's good." But then was it just me or did I want to eat some crickets.
No way. I'm not going to do that. Nope.

As soon as she fell asleep I pulled out a bassinet from the basement and placed her in it.
I then began cleaning. I decided the fastest way to replenish my hp would be to clean the boys room. Toys had been dumped here like the whole bin for no reason. There was never a need for Loki to respawn it.
I swam through the sea of magnet tiles and building blocks and wooden food with Velcro.
And I began sorting it all.
I sorted through the battlefield of toy soldiers and princesses and toys found in kids meals at fast food restaurants. And the civilization of stuffed animals that I always swore was alive when I was a kid.
I placed them all in their basket. Including the doll my grandma had made me.
"Why is this doll missing her head?" I exclaimed, looking around for her head but finding only another doll who had her arms gone.
Why do dolls become victims and I swear it was Anwan who did it, what was up with that girl?
Then there are the toys that hide under the bed. I scooted the bed to find the ones drawn on and the hidden crayons to go with it.
I frowned. Were these battle scars? "Why the heck?" One I swear had red blood drawn on it. Ok I found the head of the Barbie it was in a dinosaur's mouth.
Rory came in. "Mommy I was playing Kat!" He exclaimed. "Thats you mommy! Kat are you see!"
He said this with pride.
"Kat isn't going to eat anyone." I said but now I was a bit afraid of leaving her alone.
"Shri-aaaaaaaaahhhhh!" She wailed as if on cue she awoke from her nap to feed again and in that moment I realized that she indeed was eating from me in a way I was her food. I frowned. My kids are too smart.
